Hey, it's Mike from Swisco.com!
And today I'm going to show you how to use the Swisco 75-059 Screen Frame Lancing Kit
to install a knife latch pair into your window screen frame.
For this exercise, I'll be using the 70-172 Knife Latch Pair
And the tools I'll be using are a hammer, utility knife and safety glasses.
We recommend using clamps to secure the lancing kit to a table before beginning the project.
Now, this lancing kit comes with a tool, and five slots to accommodate
a 1/4" frame, 5/16", 3/8", 7/16" and 7/16" with 1" frame.
I'm going to be using a 3/8" frame. I'm going to put it in the 3/8" slot
Close the kit to secure the frame and get started.
Alright, to get started grab your lancing tool
Keep it firmly in place on the edge of the frame and use a hammer to gently tap the tool through the frame.
After you've sent the lancing tool the entire way through the frame,
pull it out, send the blade in the opposite direction, and make your next groove right next to your first one.
Use your utility knife to cut away any of the excess frame on the bottom.
Then, use your knife latches to see if they fit in the hole you just made.
If not, use your lancing tool to make your hole slightly larger.
Your knife latches should now fit in the frame and be ready for use.
As always, thanks for watching!
