I made a title screen! In my infinite wisdom, I have decided to participate in the Booktube
read-a-thon that's happening between July 15th and 21st. A read-a-thon is an event where
a bunch of internet book people plan to read as much as they possibly can for a set time.
This one is called BOOKTUBE-A-THON because it's the first one to be created on Youtube.
It was created by padfootandprongs07 and ArielBissett whose videos I've put in the thing if you
want to learn more. The main point of a read-a-thon is just to read a lot and have fun with it,
but the creators of this one have also added some challenges to make it a little more interesting.
They have challenged the participants to read 300 pages a day, read a book with more than
500 pages in it, reread a book, finish a series, read a book that's been on the shelf forever,
listen to an audio book, and read a classic. First I'm going to read Little Women by Louisa
May Alcott to take advantage of my shiny new annotated copy. I chose that because it actually
covers three of the challenges. It's a classic, it has 597 pages, and I have ready it many
times before, though the annotations will be new. For a book that's been on my shelf
forever, I'm going to read The Golden Compass by Philip Pullman. I got a copy of this when
I was 13 or 14 years old, but I was completely uninterested and I actually gave my copy away.
That was Michael's copy. But I've wanted to read it for a few years now. I don't really
have any unfinished series. I tend to finish them as I go. So in order to finish a series,
I'll need to read an entire series. I'm not entirely sure what I'm going to do about that.
I don't want to commit to reading an entire series when I don't know if I'm even going
to like the first book. So, if I like The Golden Compass, I'll probably polish off the
rest of that trilogy. If not, I've been in the mood to reread The Chronicles of Narnia,
or maybe the Enchanted Forest Chronicles because we've been talking about them so much. Funny
that those are both "chronicles." It isn't a common word. Finally, today was independence
day, so the library wasn't open. So I don't know what audio book I'm going to read. I'll
keep you updated on that, especially if you follow my Tumblr because I just post all the
random thoughts that come out of my head there. And then unless I choose a giant audio book
like a big Dickens novel or war and peace or something, I'll probably have to read one
other book. So I thought I would take suggestions??? If you leave a comment and you have good ideas
then I will take your suggestions. Or something.
