Should I wait for iPhone 6?
It isn’t even out yet! It will be released in 2014.
Should I wait for the iPhone when it comes out, instead of rushing out to buy it?
It is rather stupid to wait in line for hours or even days for the cachet of being the first
of your friends to own one. And you put yourself in the bulls-eye of thieves by fighting to
get the first one.
The new version of the iPhone usually has new features or software or both the prior
versions that did not have.
Waiting a few weeks won’t make much difference, though it could result in significant cost
savings. Waiting six months could save you a fortune.
A lot of people buy new iPhones when they first come out. Over nine million new iPhones
were sold when the iPhone 5 was released.
And how many people will mortgage their souls for the iPhone 6 when it comes out?
How much will the iPhone 6 cost?
Apple generally charges as much for the new phone as it does for the current one. The
current iPhone costs $700 to $1,000, depending on features and upgrades.
What types of features and upgrades?
The phone performs better if you invest in more memory, though that ups the cost. Screen
protectors are useful, while many people buy costly cases.
The case protects the iPhone from damage.
It does, but skins and gold plated cases are fancy luxuries, not necessities.
What do you think about the iPhone’s promised finger print security?
It ensures that strangers can’t do anything with your phone unless they have access to
your phone, whether a drunken hand or a cut off finger. I worry though about the NSA having
all of the fingerprint data from it that Apple says it will give to the NSA.
A lot of people had to give fingerprints to get drivers’ licenses, so Apple sharing
the data isn’t going to matter much.
It does avoid the problem of forgetting your password.
But it doesn’t protect them from drunk texting and emailing.
There’s probably a solution for that in the iPhone 7.
