Hi everyone, so today I just wanted to talk
about the Galaxy Note 2 and how I'm getting on with it several months now, probably three or four
months after launch.
It's still the best device I think I've ever used
from a point of view of the screen size,
how fast it is
playing back multimedia gaming on the damn thing,
using it for business.
There really isn't a better device on the market right now.
I think quite literally Samsung
until the Note 3 comes out this is the best device around. Yep sure
720p screen, some of the devices coming out this year going to be rocking 1080p screens.
Here's an interesting thing I've noticed. All of these devices coming out with 1080p
screens also happen to have very small batteries. It 's going to be very interesting to see
how well those devices stack up over time
because in my opinion if you're powering that screen to a high
resolution
likewise games GUI and everything like that, and you haven't put a bigger battery in there,
I think you're going to have problems,
looking at the UHTC.
So, you know, the Note 2 has got a huge, massive battery in there
that will easily get you through 24 hours worth of general use and you know,
even nine hours worth of heavy use. I've found
gaming, wifi, internet, taking pictures, making videos, uploading stuff to the web
you can squeeze an awful lot of juice out of this device.
I tend to use a lot of customizations on my Android devices so
this is the TSF shell launcher
for instance which is a very very slick modern UI
It's really main power user features more than anything else that
certain things just get out of your way and stay out of the way
whilst you're working with them. But you have this very very fluid
desktop area, it can be fully customized and again it makes the Note 2
kind of leap ahead again. I quite like touchless but
something like TSF onto your Note 2 suddenly turns this into a
much more user-friendly device from point-of-view quite literally of
acting like a desktop in the way it approaches things so if I want to I can
quickly grab a load of icons
move them around
bunch them up together
do whatever I need to
and it's all very very quick and fluid whilst I'm working
and you can pretty much treat this like a desktop really in many respects
using TSF but
for my mind it comes down to the perfect combination of hardware really
with the Note 2.
This large 5.5inch screen, eight megapixel
camera in there,
the 2gig of RAM
the 1.6gig quad core processor, I mean the list goes on. This is just a
powerhouse of a device
and literally has no equal on the market today.
And I haven't even talked about the S Pen, do you know what I mean, which you know,
I'll be absolutely honest with you
I can probably count on one hand the number of times I've actually used the S Pen.
Really, you don't need it.
You know, for the vast majority of things you won't use it for
but just to quickly jot down something or make some notes, there isn't any better,
it's very very fluid and easy to use.
But I don't find it
kind of something that I constantly use in my day to day life. For me,
with the Note 2 it's primarily about
large screen
lots and lots of power under the hood, a reasonable amount of storage space but really
it's this size of screen.
The screen makes a massive difference and if you attempt to use a smaller device
afterwards, spend a couple of days on the Note 2
any other device will just look tiny in comparison.
