Halo my name is Anthony Arnett and I'm the Master of Arnett Sport kung fu located here in Jacksonville Florida. We've been discussing the 3 types of fighters not the styles but the mentality of those fighters. These 3 types are the hawk the snake and the rat, now we're talking about the Hawk if you haven't seen the other 2 please do it will help you follow up with the last. The Hawk is unique type of fighter in any styles these guys or woman are very confident very cocky and very aggressive but their main thing is to wait and allow you to mess up and either in defending or in attacking and they take advantage of your misstates that's the Hawk type of fighter. To help me go over a few of their techniques I will use one of my good students Giuseppe, now the Hawk stylists can do a lot of different stances it depends on their style don't forget we don't talk about any particular style in our Wing Chun kung fu we only talk about the mentality of the fighter and techniques, everybody punches, elbows and knees so we don't need to be specific in trying to belittle or degrade other styles though my fighter I will just talk about his mentality. So the Hawk type mentality again likes to wait on their pray to make a mistakes in either attacking or defending so the Hawk fighter can be recognized by his mobility his structure the way he moves he likes to move around his fighter like to set them up move them to get them ready and then wait for you to come in and wait for you to make a mistake. So again from here he comes in one two three the technique we're gona use here to deal with him is our Wing Chun kung fu lead arm technique we like to use reverse muscle so that we are gona pull our arm back and be ready to follow through, so again from here he kicks gum pak larp and then from here I finish up. Very very simple techniques. Now to attack a Hawk we have to become a Hawk we have to watch him like the Hawk and wait for him to make his mistake so we apply pressure to a Hawk type fighter. If you get a Hawk type fighter he likes circle you likes to move around likes to fake like to wait but before you commit to movements then you become that type of fighter. So in this case I enter in I jab him then step of and hit him, he was quick to circle to get away from me to I anticipated his movement and I went to my long range weapon. Again I slow it up enter in I move I step off then finish up the technique. So again a little quicker from here step off and finish up. Ok we're back we're dealing with the Hawk style fighter remember the Hawk is very aggressive very confident sure of him or herself they like to put pressure on you to make you make you mess up in attacking or defending and they take advantage of that. A lot of them like to start of intimidating their opponent by bouncing up or standing still so you can hit them to give intimidation like the Hawk but to train for that type of fighter we use Chi Sao (sticky hands) exercise to get us ready. So I'm going to use one of my students Sifu Maurice Novoa from the Melbourne Australia Sport and Street wing chun kung fu academy to help. come on in Maurice good to have you from down under brother. We're are gona go over the technique used in the defense for training contact reflex with Chi Sao to deal with the Hawk stylist fighter. I'll be the Hawk fighter and the first one is the Hawk draws him out hoping that he makes a mistake with his defense so Maurice does a jut sao so the Hawk tries to trap to get to his blind side to step off and that's when you use your long range weapon to finish up with the Hawk cause remember his on those angle trying to get around you to mess up on your defense to get you when you step off. if he wouldn't have use his long range weapon on that angle I would have been able to grab his arm and finish him up from here and he wouldn't be able to use his arms cause I'm too far away. Ok so one more time again, now go on to the other side and remember the Hawk wants you to mess up so that he can take advantage of you in this case right here the Hawk does his trap his long range punch hoping you will mess up you step off kick and finish up. So he's to far to punch on this first one so you finish up with the kick, very good.
