Hello!
I would like to share few of my thoughts!
Imagine that you are driving with your car...
...through an empty road in the early morning.
sun is shining through your window, the engines roars nicely
radio is playing your favourite tune
Suddenly your joy is being disturbed by signs appearing from each direction!
"Hooks", "Cheap hotel", "Chinese food/Kebab", "diarhea medicin producer's birthday!"
Yes, I'm speaking about outdoor ads, but not the kind of outdoor that wins Cannes Lions
I am speaking of the kind that unfortunately we see in the suburban areas
I don't speak about large cities, since it looks better there, there are big brands
there are some legal institutions, be that from the mayor's office or ministry of infrastructure
they give some limitations, example apartment houses will not be covered with large ads
And in the villages around cities? It's "whatever works" policy
Well just enjoy me road to work!
I don't complain about the design, It can be laughed out by anyone working with graphics
I think rather of the placement, which in many cases is just stupid!
Either the ads are covered with bushes and trees or faced with angle that makes them invisible to drivers
The second isue is the number of those ads
Today I think each guy in rubber boots besides potatoes and carrots offers also advertising space
I think every CEO of a small company dreams of watching his logo hang on his way to work
But he has no idea, what the design and message should be
And the sole sign "Roofs" doesn't say much, or this ad right here:
I should give a reward to someone, who can figure out if this is a painter, workshop or car rental
My road to work is 6,5 km or at least the piece you've seen
I pass it normally in 7 minutes, and that means
that with 140 ads, you are exposed to 20 ads per minute
which you can converte to 1 ad per 3 seconds, that may not scare, but if you think that
they are not evenly distributed, and at times I was exposed to 13-14 ads at once...
that makes a bigger impression
That is why I say "NO" to village advertising, rubber boots in the advertising industry and...
And I say "NO" to the "hooks" producer from the village I pass everyday! Thank You!
