>> Roy: Hi there, I'm Roy Goble, I’m president of PathLight international. Sitting next to
me is Mark Parcher the Executive Director. >> Mark: Hi. We're here at Jaguar Creek and
we thought we'd just take some time to share a little bit about PathLight's ministry and
what we do here in Belize. >> Roy: Mark and I have known each other for
25 years now. On a Sunday morning we both walked into a brand new church at the same
time and we met and instantly connected as friends.
>> Mark: Yeah, as I recall it was 1987 and we went to kind of a startup church and that's
when we first met. >> Roy: And since then we've been on several
boards together -- we were elders together, his wife Adrienne and my wife D'Aun are friends,
our kids grew up together, we have kids at about the same age. So there's been this real
deepening of relationship that we've had over the years.
>> Mark: One thing that happened with us -- I think it was actually an idea that your mom
originally started was the thought of getting together once a week and just praying with
each other. And whether it was at Roy's, at your office, or even when I was out of the
country we did it by the phone, but we got together and we'd share each other's prayer
request and pray for each something like.... >> Roy: we did that for like fifteen years
and it was a great time and we'd get together on Wednesdays, we'd usually skip lunch and
we had a rule that you could come with three prayer requests and no more and we would uh...
we kept all those notes over the years too. It was time of real blessing for both of us
you get to know person that way in a deep and meaningful way
>> Mark: And really PathLight kind of came from that foundation of prayer. It think it
built a trust between us and just the. ability to know each other and of course interacting
with God, trying to seek God's will really led to what we're doing now with PathLight
>> Roy: Right, we knew that PathLight was going to be built on that foundation and prayer
has been central to what we do. We continue to pray on a regular basis for the ministry,
for the kids that we work with, for the teachers, for the nation of Belize. And it really all
started from that history of meeting together and praying for each other and for our families
>> Mark: Yeah, and in those prayer exchanges about, I guess it's been about six years now,
we at one point started talking about what we could do for the country of Belize and
we really came here open for anything, not knowing, not knowing what we would do. We
had an idea that it might involve children in some way and boy the doors just opened
up here in Belize to lead us into our ministry that involves students, and teachers and volunteers
from all over North America that come here to serve.
>> Roy: It's been an amazing time of growth the last about five or I guess it’s been
about five-and-a-half years now something like that and it's wonderful to see how God's
blessed it. The students in particular you can see it -- the way they've grown and their
hearts have blossomed And during that time we've seen so many other opportunities that
we could be pursuing. >> Mark: The number of students that we turn
down. We are only working in three villages here and there are hundreds of villages in
Belize that could use our help really we can't do more without a solid financial foundation
of support >> Roy: Right, the financial foundation is
critical to everything that we do. So those of you who are donors, we want to say thank
you for all you've done -- it's made a world of difference and for those of you that aren't,
we hope that you would be prayerfully considering if you could join with us because we believe
that your prayers are extremely valuable and important and if you could take time to pray
about what PathLight is doing if you could pray for the students, if you could pray for
the teachers that would be fantastic. But if you could also pray and give every consideration
to the idea of supporting us that would help a great deal as well.
>> Mark: We do appreciate your support in every way and if we can pray for you or help
you in any way please let us know we'd be glad to do that as well.
>>Roy: Right. Thanks, bye from Belize!
