Just the number of people illustrates what an exciting day this is.
And on this exciting day, I’m going to reiterate the obvious.
And that is we at the University of Louisville are very proud,
very proud of our School of Dentistry.
It has a great history and a great tradition and is part of the history
and tradition of the University of Louisville.
So today we celebrate the completion of a project long time in the planning,
long time in the works, long time getting here; $45 million project.
We have a great School of Dentistry. And great schools deserve great space.
What we’re going to see emerge from this is a brand new facility
with really great faculty, students, and staff attracting
more great faculty, students, and staff.
It’s a virtuous cycle that’s very important.
More revenue generation through grants
that will get plowed back into the academic mission.
These modern classrooms and clinics and conference spaces are clearly
necessary to educate the practitioner of tomorrow.
Changes of the building have also brought contemporary changes
to the curriculum for all of our dental students and even
all of our dental hygiene students and it will
now foster a practice-based research network.
But most importantly,
this facility sustains our relentless commitment to the pursuit
of excellence in teaching, scholarship, delivery of care,
and pioneering efforts in clinical and translational research.
