Pregnant Mum Mauled by Dog Still Hears It 'tearing into Her' When Closing Eyes

/form A heavily pregnant woman says she now struggles to sleep at night after she was bitten by a dog as she tried to protect her three-year-old son. Ayesha, who is 39 weeks pregnant, was left with a broken elbow and needed eight stitches on her head after she was mauled by the animal. The mum-of-two, from Manchester, says the attack has left her 'highly distressed' and she can't stop crying following the terrifying ordeal. She added that she can still hear the dog's teeth tearing into her skin if she shuts her eyes. Ayesha says she was putting the bins outside her home on July 5 on when two dogs appeared from a nearby house and began terrorising her three-year-old son. As she rushed over to protect her little boy, the larger of the dogs launched a brutal attack on the mum-to-be, knocking her to the floor as her son watched on in horror, t he Manchester Evening News reports. Ayesha says that as she attempted to restrain the dog, she felt a sharp pain to her back of her head and quickly realised that she was covered in blood. She cried for help but the owner of the dogs was nowhere to be seen and Ayesha says she was forced to crawl back to her house in order to escape the ordeal. Ayesha was taken to hospital where she received eight stitches to the head, treatment for a broken elbow and is required to take antibiotics to prevent any infection. She will also undergo an additional scan to monitor the health of her unborn baby. Ayesha told the M.E.N: “I have just been left in shock. I can’t sleep or stop crying and my kids have been left really scared. “I can still hear the dog tearing into my skin every time I shut my eyes. “Yesterday I was admitted to hospital to monitor the health of the baby and now I have to go for another scan to check that everything is okay. “If you have dogs, you need to be able to control them. Myself and my children are now too scared to go outside. “I just want the dog to be taken away so other children and people are safe. “I can’t change what happened to me but I want to ensure the safety of others.” A spokesman for Greater Manchester Police said: "A woman in her 20s was taken to hospital with injuries but has since been discharged. “Efforts to gain more information and to understand the circumstances surrounding the incident are ongoing and anyone with information should contact police on 101 quoting reference number 1036 of 05/07/18 or the independent charity Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
