This season - less is more. Less decoration and more visuals.
Tell something about the new blinders...
Yalta had a 1 month pause after the summer, and there are a few upgrades here.
Last season there were 2 blinders, I don't know if everybody knows what's that.
The blinder is actually a very strong light bulb, which is like 1100W or something like that.
Which means that if you sit infront of it for like 10 minutes you can get a nice beach like skin tone :D
Before the summer there were 2 blinders here in Yalta, and now they are six.
Their placement is changed as well,
The club now has a laser show, something that I think we missed for a long time.
And especially for Blame, we started to work with a VJ from Netherlands
Called Mark Pistoor, he is responsible for the visual side of the Sander Kleinenberg sets.
And Armin Van Buuren.
We gave him a few tracks, which will be a part of Blame
For which, he can make special visuals, just for us.
Those visuals will be played on two big screens, on each side of the DJ booth.
We also have a LED visual system, which is in the club for some time now
But we changed it's form
Tell how you broke it the last season...
Last year we had the idea to make it in that form just for Blame
And we formed it, placed it, but because we are not LED technicians
It appeared that we did something wrong and when we plugged it in, it just didn't started.
The next Blame event is on November 6th here in Yalta Club.
Liubo: There's no other place for Blame :)
Vasil: Less is more, the new concept, Blame Trilogy Part One, with afterhours.
Costy And Gerardo are the artists of the first track.
The track is called "Toata Noaptea".
I have no idea what that means..
And also I've never heard about these artists
I found it in a compilation released by Be As One
Which was released lately, called Tools For School.
What I like about it.. It has exactly what I like about tracks.
Drums, rhythms, groove and huge bassline.
And.. That's it :D
The next track is coming from Planet E.
By Paul Hamill aka Psycatron
Featuring Blake Baxter, and it's called "She Is Music".
And especially for this track Mark Pistoor is making a visualisation now
Because there are some words in it, that are like "Detroit", "4/4", "Groove" etc.
Vasil: "Richie" Liubo: Without Richie, no Richie this time :D
I haven't played it yet, but I think that it will have a huge impact.
The third track has already been talked about whole summer since, for Cecille.
By Lee Burridge And Matthew Dekay and it is called "Vongel".
We are having a word with Matthew,
He has been a guest DJ in Yalta for a few parties
And we talked that this style, which he is developing now
Is really something different from his other works, probably because he is living in Berlin now..
And I think that this track will be released by the end of the month.
Basically the whole summer we were listening about it because it was included in the "Party Animals" Mix by Nick Curly
The last track there, and that's how the hype started.
It has the typical Lee Burridge groove,
And one really specific and catchy melody, that only Matthew Dekay can come up with.
And I think that the result is.. Really good.
Vasil: What do you think about the gossip that the fans of Panica
Think of you as the Karbovski of the electronic music?
Well.. I have to admit that I've learned that like 10 minutes ago.
And I am still trying to get used to it, and I am waiting for a call from Nova Tv.
So they can start shooting me in black and white.
And because my show is more clubby, instead of a red square.
I am planning to have a pink circle.
This is Producer's Meal.
I decided to bring in some sort of a system in this part of the show.
That's why I will begin working on a track here.
And I will build it element by element
This time we will start with a basic house beat.
Which will be the base for our next meals.
When I start working on a track for which I don't have an exact idea in mind.
I always start with the kick, the bass
And then slowly I start to build on top of that.
Now lets start with the kick, I have already selected one.
Which is really nice. Let's hear it.
Let me create one MIDI clip here first in which we will program the kick.
As it is 4/4 it's really easy to place the kicks.
Then we duplicate the MIDI clip in order to fill the place.
Usually while I am building the groove of a house / techno track
I like to set a small loop in which I can add elements.
And then when I have a groove that I like I begin to build the track - element by element.
And that's exactly how we are going to proceed with this track. Now let's hear the kick.
As you can see - pretty normal kick, but because I don't like normal sounds, I will play with it a bit.
I forgot to tell you that for the kick I am using Simpler, which I think is one of the most powerful Ableton features.
And you can achieve really great things with it - not only for percussions but for bass sounds etc.
You can apply different filters, effects on top of them.
The first thing that I am going to do is to turn on the filter and select Band Pass.
Turn this on, also increasing the attack time a bit.
And I will raise the frequency a bit.
It sounds a more bassy with less high frequencies.
And I like it.
Let's lower the channel volume a bit.
And now we need some sort of a clap or snare
Usually when I want to add more elements I do the following:
I just duplicate the channel, it can be done either from here,
Or you can press CMD+D (Mac) or Ctrl+D (PC) (LOL AT MY WASHING MACHINE)
Now I will remove the first hits in the midi, because this will be the clap.
And then again - copy the midi to cover my whole loop.
Now you can hear that on each 2nd and 4th kick the sounds is twice as hard.
Now let's choose a clap.
This one sounds fine.
Now let's remove the filter.
Let's hear it.
When I use such bassy kick i prefer to use a clap that doesn't interfere much with the kick.
That's why we place a High Pass filter, and play with it until we find a sound that we like.
Let's hear them both now.
You can see now that we have a some sort of groove that we all know.
And we can add one more clap hit by the end of the loop to make it more interesting.
Now I will insert a small hi-hat in order to have the all three elements of the house beat.
This one sounds fine.
Again - duplicate. Remove the filter and rearrange the hits in the midi -
Since it is a basic hi-hat, let's place it between the kicks.
And of course you have all the freedom you need to move around the hi hat as much as you want it
In order to achieve more interesting results.
But now we are concentrated on the basic stuff.
Let's hear them together.
Now after we have the three basic elements let's add something to play with them.
I have chosen here a sample, that I think will sound good in the track.
Let's warp it. This can be done from here, you can use those markers to tell the sounds when exactly you want them to play.
You can now hear it.
Now let's place it in our loop
You can see now how this loop, taken from Zimba Ku by Black Heart starts to build athmosphere.
Which adds some soul to the electronic beat.
From now on, I am not only going to show stuff in Producer's Meal
I am going to give you also Live Packs, which can be easily downloaded.
From this link.
And you can experiment with it, the only thing you need is Ableton Live.
And in order to keep things that way I am going to use only the built in features of Ableton.
