Craig Young: I'm always excited to come here because the caliber of the students that we
get from the University of Florida is so high, and it's such a diverse population with folks
who have a great education both inside and outside the classrooms.
Heather White: Career Showcase is a two-day event. It's a very large event -- the largest
career fair in the south east, and we're the largest career fairs in the United States.
That attracts thousands of students, as you can imagine, and hundreds and hundreds of
employers from Florida and across the country.
Heather White: Bernard Worthy: UF students, they have the best, I guess, skill sets that
we're looking for in terms of for the buying and planning program or for the store management
program. So they're great candidates. Our main objective when we come here is to recruit
talent -- is to hire Gators -- and we do that in bundles.
The university as a whole is helping students in trying to secure employment. Of course
at the Career Resource Center, this is a large part of what we focus on. So we host career
fairs, the Career Showcase, twice a year, we have on-campus recruitment, we have a whole
team dedicated to on-campus recruitment and employer relations. So, we do a lot of research
in seeking companies out that have not worked with us in the past.
Ruben Jean: I didn't come to UF where they had a list "Here's how to get a career," but
it said you learned if your different networking.
Mekut Archibong:Especially since I'm not look for a job for this summer, but it's so important
to network with these companies because they continue come back year after year and you're
dedicated to the University of Florida.
Ruben Jean: Resources such as an adviser just helping you constantly. They see a job opportunity,
they'll maybe just email you personally or four or five student who they know may fit
that company profile. So just utilizing all these Gator resources is another step.
Craig Young: They're not just developing well-educated students, but the people that come out of
the University of Florida are very well-rounded, very community- oriented and energetic and
aspire to do great things.
