CALLED THAT FIRE SUSPICIOUS.
11 NEWS REPORTER KIM DACEY IS
LIVE AT POLICE HEADQUARTERS WITH
THE LATE-BREAKING DETAILS.
KIM: WE JUST GOT OUT OF A PRESS
BRIEFING, WHERE POLICE ANNOUNCED
THE FIRST HOMICIDE OF
2016 BY
PUBLIC ENEMY NUMBER 1.
59-YEAR-OLD ALAN LORENZO FLOYD
IS BALTIMORE'S NEW PUBLIC ENEMY
NUMBER 1.
POLICE SAY FLOYD WENT TO THIS
HOME IN THE 2300 BLOCK OF EAST
MADISON STREET JUST BEFORE 2:00
THIS AFTERNOON.
T.J.: TWO PEOPLE WERE ACTUALLY
IN THE ROOM AND WERE BARRICADED
BEHIND A DOOR THAT HE HAD DOUSED
WITH SOME TYPE OF ACCELERANT.
AND HE SET FIRE TO THAT.
ONE OF THOSE PEOPLE WAS ABLE TO
ESCAPE.
ANOTHER ONE WAS NOT ABLE TO
ESCAPE.
KIM: POLICE SAY THAT VICTIM, A
61-YEAR-OLD WOMAN, DIED IN THE
FIRE.
NEIGHBORS SAY THEY TRIED
DESPERATELY TO GET HER OUT OF
THE BURNING HOME.
ROBERT: THERE WAS SOMETHING
PRIED BEHIND THE DOOR.
THE LADY TRIED TO PULL THE DOOR,
AND I'M TRYING TO PUSH IT.
AT THE SAME TIME, I GRABBED HER
ARM.
BUT IT WAS SOMETHING -- THE DOOR
WOULDN'T MOVE.
TRIED TO BREAK IT DOWN, BUT IT
STILL DIDN'T WORK.
KIM: POLICE DON'T HAVE DETAILS
ON THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN THE
SUSPECT AND TWO VICTIMS.
THEY WERE KNOWN TO EACH OTHER,
BUT THIS WAS NOT A DOMESTIC
VIOLENCE SITUATION.
FLOYD USED TO LIVE AT THE HOME.
THE FEMALE VICTIM DID NOT.
T.J.: WHAT WE KNOW ABOUT THAT
61-YEAR-OLD FEMALE IS SHE
APPEARS TO BE AN UNINTENDED
TARGET OF THIS INCIDENT.
THIS APPEARED TO BE SOME SORT OF
ONGOING DISPUTE BETWEEN THE
SUSPECT AND POSSIBLY ANOTHER
PARTY, WHO WAS AT THIS HOUSE.
KIM: NOW, POLICE ARE SEARCHING
FOR ALAN FLOYD.
THEY SAY HE FREQUENTS THAT AREA
OF EAST BALTIMORE.
AND THEY'RE HOPING TO GET THE
PUBLIC'S HELP TO FIND HIM.
DAVIS: IF YOU KNOW THE
WHEREABOUTS OF ALAN FLOYD, KNOW
THAT HE IS A KILLER, AND HE
NEEDS TO BE HELD ACCOUNTABLE FOR
WHAT HE DID TODAY.
KIM: ANYONE WITH INFORMATION
SHOULD CONTACT METRO
CRIMESTOPPERS.
