The problem of forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan
needs to be taken very seriously.
Manggala Agni was established to help fight forest and land fires.
Manggala Agni Central Kalimantan was founded in 2002
based on the letter of decision from the director general PHKA 2002.
The goal is to protect conservation areas and help communities control forest and land fires, which are very dangerous.
The Manggala Agni fire brigade was created to prevent and extinguish fires in Central Kalimantan,
and also manage the post-fire situation in the most effective and efficient way.
The Manggala Agni fire brigade operates in four areas across Central Kalimantan:
Palangkaraya
Kapuas
Pangkalanbun
and Muara Teweh
Each operational area is regulated by the forest fire teams of Manggala Agni.
The Central Kalimantan forest and land fire control program is divided into three stages:
Ready 1, Ready 2 and Ready 3.
Ready 3 focuses on fire prevention activities,
raising community awareness,
developing infrastructure, facilities, human resources, equipment, applied science & technology, and also raising funds.
Finding water at the DAOP 3 in Pangkalan Bun can be difficult.
That’s why we have a water reserve as for back-up.
Manggala Agni supports both the corporate sector and the communities with training programs on forest and land fire prevention and control.
Manggala Agni trains the community living around the conservation area
to practice land clearing methods without fire,
through usage of special compost systems.
In addition, the community regularly sends fire reports to Manggala Agni.
Ready 2 uses early warning and detection systems to help prevent and extinguish fires.
Every day we receive data from the satellite NOAA 18.
This is analyzed and forwarded to Manggala Agni
before conducting a ground check, to see if there is a fire or not.
Ready 1 occurs in extreme weather conditions.
Manggala Agni fights the early stages of fire,
continuously extinguishing fires, mobilizing step by step, fighting lingering fires
and also patrolling the area.
The most important thing at Manggala Agni is to follow the safety procedures.
The main problem that Manggala Agni Central Kalimantan faces is the vast area that needs to be covered
and the limited personnel and equipment.
Manggala Agni relies on support from the community to help and control forest and land fires in Central Kalimantan.
I grew up near the forest. I work for Manggala Agni to help save the forest and land.
Working for Manggala Agni is full of challenges. But it also gives us a lot of pride and hope.
The forest and land fires are best controlled when Manggala Agni and the community work together.
Let’s control the fire, conserve the forest and save the environment.
We, team Manggala Agni Central Kalimantan, are ready to fight the forest and land fires.
Who are we? Galaag! Who are we, Galaag! Yes!
