Welcome to this episode of Addictive Fishing y'all. We're fishing Lake Okeechobee for my
very first time. We got Captain Butch Butler with us and we're going to be showing you
some bass today y'all been asking for a bass show so here we go I might switch over to
the bait caster here a little bit later and show you but y'all stay tuned, we're gonna
catch some fish on lake o today. Gah that looks good up in there.
There's a good one.
Alright! I guess that's the way to open it up. Throw a cast out and catch a good fish.
I'm gonna turn you around. Let me get mine in here and I'll come over and catch him for
you. Touch my first Lake Okeechobee bass.
>>Appreciate it there brother.
>>Well there you go folks my very first Lake Okeechobee bass that I get to touch but Captain
Butch caught it. Is that about your average size?
>>Yeah that's about average.
>>Gah their eyes are black, look how black their eyes are. I know you guys out there
have been asking for a bass show so here we are in lake Okeechobee and we're catching
bass. They sure are dark down here huh?
>>Yes they are, it's because the color of the water. The water is really dark and you
could put that fish in some really clean water and he would turn back white and green in
about twenty minutes.
>>Kind of like our snook huh? Cool beans. Mr. bass. That's a pretty one, what is he
about two and a half three pounds?
>>Yeah he's about two and a half pounds.
>>I could go for one of those. Well good job there Captain Butch.
>>Thank you.
>>I'm gonna get re rigged and catch me one how about that?
>>Awesome.
>>Oh there's a hit.
>>You'll fell him. Then just slowly reel down until you get all your slack out and frickin'
cross his eyes.
>>You ever drag them across the lily pads and have them just explode on them?
Oh theres a good alligator.
>>Oh that is a good one. He might stretch your drag out for you.
>>He could, do you do any gator hunts?
>>Yes I do occasionally.
>>Ooh.
>>You get whacked?
>>Felt like it
Yeah I got whacked. Couldn't tell if it was a piece of grass or not but
like you said grass don't pull back. Hey that's bigger than any one we caught on Lake X the
other day. Last time I was bass fishing.
>>He swallowed it didn't he?
>>Yeah I think we can get it. Oh yeah. Little bass. Lake Okeechobee.
>>Pretty fish.
Oh I got to get a new worm.
>>Welcome back folks, we're still in Lake Okeechobee, I know it looks a lot different
than what we were in earlier but the wind has picked up on us a little bit so all we're
doing is drifting over and throwing the lure formally known as the airhead. It's the five
inch swim bait by DOA Just basically pulling it across the top and y'all have seen on the
website where I trim the tail like this and what it does when you're pulling it across
the top it just makes that little
[flutter sound] that sound that drives them nuts and hopefully underneath these lily pads-
You ought to see this water it's crystal clear but you say you always look for three types
of vegetation when you're in the area?
>>Yup lily pads, needle grass, cat tails and this just has some of it all right here.
>>Well let's see if there's one over here somewhere. Hey and I didn't backlash. [Laughing]
There he is! Come on get that head up! He's still on. He's still on.
[Funny laugh] I always wondered why you need sixty five pound test when you're out here
bass fishing.
>>Now you got it, that was a good fish.
>>That wasn't a bad fish huh?
>>Whew, looks like something we'd use for bait in saltwater but- Hey it's bass fishing
and it's all fun. That's a pretty fish. Look how black their eye balls are. That's amazing.
>>That one spanked that one hard too didn't he?
>>See ya dude.
>>Uh oh, what does it mean when your bobber is under the surface?
>>Usually means-
>>Something is attached to it?
>>You hope so anyway and not a cat tail.
>>Non cat tail.
>>Non cat tail? Looks to be a pretty good fish.
>>Well you never know. When you've been doing this as long as I have.
>>Oh that's looking like a good one. Looking like what we came to Okeechobee for anyway. [Laughs]
Welcome back folks. We've changed positions and we're doing something that he does what
did you say ninety-five percent of the time?
>>Yeah.
>>And that's shiner fish. That's the reason you come to Lake Okeechobee right there. Right?
>>That's right.
>>Nice fish. And he- I can get to him. Look the reason they call them large mouth bass
[Laugh]
There he goes.
>>Thank you Blair.
>>Yes sir, Lake Okeechobee right there. Nice little bass. What would he go about?
>>About four pounds.
>>About four pounds? Gah I'd like to see a ten pounder.
>>We're going to get bigger.
>>Go on and get out of here dude. And off he goes. Not a bad one there brother. You're
having to show me how to do it here on Lake Okeechobee As you know, bass fishing isn't
something I do everyday.
>>We're going to change that. We'll see about that. Y'all stay tuned we'll be right back
with some more Addictive Fishing and Captain Butch right here on Lake Okeechobee.
Oh, my shiner is swimming. He's nervous- Oh big swirl, big swirl.
>>Don't get in a hurry just feed him a little line when he takes it down.
>>I'm gonna do it just like you did I'm gonna let it come out the other end of him.
[Laughing] >>Welcome back folks. We've changed positions once again. We're fishing on the
outside kind of what is this the outside rim now?
>>Yeah it's the outside. The open lake is right here behind us. We're fishing a big
floating vegetation mat and it's just water up under there as far as you can see.
>>And we're doing what you absolutely love to do now?
>>Yeah shiner fishing I love it.
>> Shiner fishing. [Laughs]

>>It's absolutely fun, all of it's fun.
>>Oh! I'm under, I'm under. And it's a big bait. There she is! That feels like a good
one there. Oh yeah! That's what I came to Lake Okeechobee for!

tuned we're gonna be right with Captain Butch from Lake Okeechobee on a nice cloudy day,
which he says makes the bass eat a little better. And it's getting better by the day...or hour.
>>Rig it right, by Wright and McGill.
On today's Rig it Right segment I'm going to show you what Capt Butch and I were
out there using on Lake Okeechobee for my very first time. Started out using the old
classic. This is the five inch CAL Worm by DOA. It's got the right amount of salt content
in it to make it sink so you can use it weightless One thing that makes it really unique too,
is it has a little slot right there when you skin the bait back and catch fish after fish
after fish on it, doesn't tear the bait up. Using sixty-five pound test Smackdown by Seaguar
I'll never laugh at you guys again out there for using such heavy line. Those bass get
down in that wire grass and now I know why you use such heavy line. Later on in the day,
we switched to live bait and actually we were using a kahle hook by Trokar. Definitely getting
the job done out there, he had it rigged up with a float so the baits didn't get down
there underneath the wire grass. Using the seven-nine bait caster. Later on in the day
switched over to the five-inch swim bait By DOA. Use a lot of these in saltwater and it
was the inspiration for all the freshwater baits that DOA is making out there right now.
If you're looking for the packaging. It's not the brown packaging, it's now green. Comes
in a five and an eight inch for you guys who like using bigger worms out there on Lake
Okeechobee. But if you ever get down there make sure you stay at Dockside Inn. It's right
there in Fort Pierce Same place we have Mogan Mania every year. Great place to stay, you
can go freshwater fishing or saltwater fishing right from there. Remember one thing though.
Every season starts right here at ***'s
>>Rig it right, by Wright and McGill.
Oh look at that fish chasing that mullet. Man he had him skeetered.
