[Jerry:] So I go to the check out line there and there's a woman in front of me,
two women in front of me. One of them the total was eight dollars,
the other the total was three dollars. They both, of course, choose to pay
by the use of a cheque.
Women are very comfortable, they use a lot of cheques,
I would like to know what is the deal on the chicks and the cheques?
Three dollars? I'm not making this up.
Three dollars! Women, ladies, gals, whatever you are if you don't have three dollars
don't go out of the house. Alright? I'm telling you right now.
Everything in the world is at least three dollars.
[Laughter]
It's the only thing in their purse they can find immediately though.
It's like, keys take hours for them to find but the cheque book
comes out of a holster, who do I make it out to?
[Laughter]
Here's my ID.
[Laughter]
Men we don't like cheques do we? We're not that comfortable with a cheque.
I think it's because to a man a cheque is a thing that represents another thing.
We don't like that. We like actual things. Money, there's money.
I have it there it is right there.
To me using a cheque, giving it to the store owner
it's like giving them a note from my mother that says, I don't have any money
but if you'll contact these people...
[Laughter]
You have to beg this guy to trust you and even if he does trust you how much
do you trust him in return, not very much, 'cos when you write out the dollar amount
you always put that long line all the way down to the end
so he can't put in and a hundred million dollars too.
