and today we're talking about supplementing with vitamin C
now most of the supplements on the market for vitamin C
are synthetically made so whether your vitamin C supplements contains ascorbic acid
or Calcium sorbate these are synthetic forms of vitamin C
and it's not something that I recommend researchers now in Britain
have now actually found that taking as little as five hundred milligrams per
day
of synthetic vitamin C is actually linked to you
genetic damage to DNA and what happens is that
it promotes the generation of free radicals from iron so naturally
occurring iron in the body
and the healthy iron in our body is in the form of ferric iron
which in the presence of synthetic vitamin C
actually forms Ferrous iron and this can be very dangerous can actually damage
the heart and other organs so who knew that taking just a regular
vitamin C supplement or if your vitamin C is actually in your multivitamin
that this can be quite dangerous for you so again I was cautionary should always
be getting
your vitamins from whole food sources and whole food vitamins
Ascorbic Acid is not the equivalent of vitamin C
naturally occurring vitamin C comes from things like fruits and vegetables
especially high ORAC value containing fruits and vegetables
and if it's just ascorbic acid then it's lacking all be the co-factors
that allow vitamin C to work
optimally in the body things like bioflavonoids
rutin, ascorbigen I mean all these are needed
plus all the other phytochemicals or plant chemicals the help that vitamin C
to work efficiently
at the cellular level and this is lacking when you're taking a synthetic vitamin C
I encourage you to look
at your vitamin bottles especially vitamin C your multivitamin and
see what form a vitamin C is it I can almost guarantee
that it's one in the synthetic forms either calcium ascorbate or
ascorbate acid and again get your nutrients from whole food vitamins

that are made synthetically its usually a corn source which a

actually extract that ascorbic acid
so not so healthy has negative consequences on your cellular health
and again is not the best antioxidant in that format
