Administrative Court considers dissolution of People's Assembly
Nezar Ghurab, Member of recently dissolved People's Assembly (PA)
We appealed the decision issued..
..by the Supreme Council of the Armed Forces (SCAF)..
..to dissolve the PA,
..due to the absence of any legal text..
..which gives them the right to do so
The decision should have only applied to a third of the members
The position of the remaining two thirds of the members..
..is legally valid and constitutional
Therefore, this decision is unconstitutional,
..against the law and against the court's ruling
Abdel Tawab Mohamed, Member of recently dissolved PA
It is more of a political issue than a legal issue
It is nothing more than a legal cover..
..with which politicians can carry out their plans
I believe the issue will not be solved..
..inside of courtrooms but rather through negotiations
This is nothing more than a measure that may..
..make things easier during the negotiations
Mohamed al-Omda, Member of recently dissolved PA
Prior to the issuance of this ruling..
..it decided that the PA Law amendments..
..were 100 percent constitutional..
..as it corresponds with Article 38 of the Constitutional Declaration..
..which stipulates that two thirds of the elected members..
..are elected through the party list system,
..and one third through the individual-candidate voting system
If you review the series of decisions issued by the SCAF,
..including the dissolution of the PA,
..and the supplement to the Constitutional Declaration..
..by which it seizes all authority,
..it becomes clear that there is a political objective,
..which is the seizing of all state authorities
I don't think the SCAF will go back on its decision,
..however, if the court issues the nullification of this decision,
..then perhaps two thirds of the PA will return..
..and then the issue of the remaining third..
..of members can be corrected
I don't expect the dissolution of the Constituent Assembly
I also expect the State Council to say the court..
..had exceeded its jurisdiction in the PA case
