one of the skills that you'll have to become very comfortable with
in this course is the use of screenshots
posting screenshots in the forums and using screenshots to give instructions
can often make what you're trying to say easier
in many cases a picture is truly worth a thousand words
this tutorial will show you how to use screenshots to communicate instructions
and post them in our moodle classroom
if you're working on a mac
easiest way to get a screenshot
is to use the quick key combination of command
control shift four
once you have the sleection of the screen you want snapped
you press the space bar and voila
screen capture
since this tutorial is being made on a windows based computer i can't show you
what this looks like
if you're working on a windows computer you'll be using the snipping tool
to find the snipping tool we go to the start menu
and if it wasn't already in my start menu i'd have to go find it
uh... the sniping tool is in the accessories folder
so i'm going to click on all programs
that i'm going to go over to accessories
and there it is the snipping tool
now snipping tool selected all we have to do is select the area of the screen
that we want to use by left clicking
and dragging
and up pops the image
from here we can either copy and paste art image or we could save or
permanently
to one of our folders
the purposes of this demonstration
and to be useful to our course i'll use posting image in a moodle discussion
forum
as the topic instructions to be created
first thing we need to do is
we have to have an image on file that we need to use so you can either find
something on the internet or you can use an image that you've snipped and saved somewhere
say i wish to post a picture of a kitty cat in the discussion forum
i'm going to the internet and find an appropriate i'm going to save it
it to my desktop since i don't plan on keeping up for a long time
since i just picked an image i'll just save the image
save as
by right clicking over the image
and as i said i said i'm going to save it to may desktop
since i'm going to get rid of it soon
call it kitty cat
save this page i'm not going to close the page yet
and there's the image right there
not going to go to moodle page
and i already have up
my reply in the discussion forum
since i'm writing instructions on how to post an image i'm also going to make sure
that i have a blank document open t so i can write instructions and place my
screenshots
here's my document i've already made it i'm just going to be able to
copy and paste pictures right to it
copy and paste does not always work on moodle so thebest option is to save the image to
your computer in order to upload it to a moodle forum
once you have a picture you like you would click on
this is where i'm going to take my snipping tool
have a new snip
and its right there that's where you click
so i'm going to copy this and paste it
you click on that
and this screen should pop up
and click on the
so we click there
you're going to click
when you click here
i just made a mistake
you click here
find the image image
choose a file
and upload the file
now you have your picture uploaded
write a brief description in the description box
you need to change the size so we're going to click on the appearance
as you see i missed a step i'm going to go back afterwards and snip
the new
the stuff i missed then
for the purposes of this tutorial i'm not going to
go through that
step again
we're going to click on appearance
we'll see a screen that looks like this
use the drop down menu
here to tell moodle to put it in
baseline
which puts it in line with any text we might have on the screen
we'll make the picture 200
and the next box will automatically resize
than all we have to do is click
so i'm going to create a new one
and click insert
and it will be added to your post
once you have created your instructions you can just copy and paste them
the whole thing into the forum, chat or whatever you are working on
if cut and paste doesn't work and it doesn't always post the document in the form itself
so you save the document
you can't drag and drop right into form
and it will automatically post as a document anybody click on it and download it
