Hi, welcome to Good Morning Marketers.
I'm Dave, this is Connie.
And today we're going to be talking about generating
interaction within your websites and the
trends found within.
Well, Dave, one thing that I've noticed a lot lately on
websites is the social media interaction.
So I see a lot of links to Twitter
and Facebook on websites.
Have you seen anything like that?
Yeah.
And even more than the links, I'd say before it was always
everyone had a friend us, everyone had a like us.
But now there's more of a pulling in different feeds
through the plug-ins.
You can actually see 25 random followers of your Facebook
site and they're right there on your home page.
I think it's a really smart thing for certain companies to
do, certain organizations to do, because it really helps
them interact with their customers or people in their
organization, people in the community.
If there is an issue, they can address it when it comes up,
or just keep that conversation going with the people that
they want to be involved with.
Yeah.
Do you see any negatives with that?
Well, if there is an issue and it's not addressed by the
company or organization, I think that could be a problem
because those people who are asking that question or having
that problem aren't feeling like they're
being interacted with.
But I think that it's a good thing if that company does
come forward and address the situation and offer up a
solution to them.
And now you're putting it right out
there in front of everyone.
They don't have to search for your social
media, it's right there.
So you need to make sure, as with all social media, that
you're moderating that too, and making sure you're
addressing everything that's out there.
I would say another trend along with actually generating
social interaction with the sites is there's more of a
push for rich, interactive media now on sites.
What website do you go to now that doesn't have some sort of
Flash integration or HTML5, or even more video?
I think a lot of people are getting into video.
Yeah, I've noticed that too.
Why do you think there's more of that stuff?
Well, I think people are becoming
smarter about their websites.
And they know that they have a goal that they want to meet
with their website.
And using those types of things, I think, helps direct
their users to those specific places on their website that
they want them to pay attention to.
Whether it's to contact them or to purchase something on
their site.
I think that helping meet that end goal is one of the most
important things with that.
So specific calls to action.
And easiest way to do that is to actually grab specific
target audiences too.
They're breaking them up more.
Employees click here or businesses, individuals.
Yeah, I see a lot.
A lot of times with clients there isn't just one specific
target audience, it's a lot of times a lot of different types
of people who have different interests and different goals,
even within a single website.
And with all of us these trends, as usual, the golden
rule is don't do it just to do it.
Exactly.
Make sure there's a specific function and a targeted reason
for doing all of that.
Especially time, is a huge factor.
If people that you work with just don't have time to
maintain it, you should ease your way into it because you
don't want those things to look like they're not being
attended to well.
Very true.
Thank you, Connie.
Thanks,
Dave. [APPLAUSE]
Everything we talk about is awesome.
We create awesome.
It that too short?
No, four more minutes.
We can eke out four more minutes.
That's what she said.
Oh my gosh.
What was--
On that note.
