In the Learning and Development domain of the QRIS portfolio,
standard LD 3 is the third standard. LD 3 is broken into 3 star levels.
Remember, if you are applying for the 4 star designation,
you also need to meet the criteria in 3 star. The same applies for 5 star.
5 star has to first meet the criteria for both 3
and 4 star levels. Written descriptions
need to address how the criteria are met in the program using specific examples of practices.
The photographs must support the written descriptions.
Programs with multiple classrooms and age groups
need to include clearly labeled evidence for each classroom and age group
and explain how any shared space or equipment is used by each classroom and age group
in an age-appropriate way. LD 3 states
the program provides an appropriate indoor environment
that supports children's learning and development and is accessible to all
children enrolled in the program. For family providers, this relates
only to areas in the home made available to children. For a 3
star level, the evidence, both the written description and photographs,
needs to show the program uses a basic indoor environmental arrangement that
supports children's learning and development
including physical space that meets the criteria in these six bullets.
For the 4 star level,
in addition to meeting the 3 star level criteria, the evidence needs to
demonstrate the indoor environmental arrangement uses enhancements that
support children's learning and development,
including at least one place to display materials related to learning.
The evidence need to reflect the guidelines in these five bullet points.
For the 5 star level,
in addition to meeting the 3 and 4 star level criteria,
programs need to submit evidence explaining how their indoor environmental arrangement
supports children's learning and development, including adult or
commercially produced displays that
follow the guidelines in these three bullets. Remember to use examples in your written descriptions
and make sure your photographs support your statements.
