00:13 Speaker 1: You never lose it.
00:15 S1: Good day knuckleheads, Uncle Knackers here and today we're talking wall framing.
Whether you're re-sheeting an old wall, or building a brand new wall, before you install
the dry wall or the plasterboard, it's a really good time to think about exactly what services
and insulation qualities, you're going to have in that wall space.
00:33 S1: First of all, let's talk noggins. Not this noggin, but this noggin. Noggins
are great and simple to install. All you need to do is measure between the studs, cut the
scrap material, put between the studs, tap it, until it's flush with the face of your
studs and it's done. And the beauty of it is that you can get your toilet roll holder
or your towel rail or your brackets for your plasma screen TV and you can install them
on this noggin and you have really secure fixing.
01:17 S1: You don't need to hunt around for a stud to attach things to , and you don't
need to attach it to a bit of dry wall and rely on plugs to hold your fixture in place.
They're fantastic.

01:34 S1: Do you mind?
01:41 S1: Knoggin heights in your bathroom for your towel rails and your toilet roll
holders, personally what I like to do is to the centre of the unit. So from the floor,
from the top of your tile to the centre of your unit which would be the centre of your
noggin, I like to go around a meter and 55, which is about 41.5 inches in imperial. And
for your toilet roll holder to the centre of your toilet roll holder which will be the
centre of your noggin, from the floor to the centre around 755 which is around 29.5 inches
in imperial.
02:27 S1: Oh! Yeah, I almost forgot. With your noggins, after you've put them in, get
a bit of paper or a book and do a diagram of exactly where you put them because you're
bound to forget. And with electrical, things to consider are the things like updating the
old wiring, t here's TV points, there's data for the internet, there's lighting, power
points, fan switches, air conditioners, and then speaker wire. I'm sure I've forgotten
a few things. So it is well worth having a really good think before that plasterboard
goes on.
03:03 S1: Heh, this is like l'm on TV.

03:09 S1: And insulation, you just want climate control, or would you like some acoustic quality
as well? The trick is, don't forget to put it in. It's really important. Have a think
about whether or not this wall requires any plumbing. I f there's existing plumbing in
that wall; does it need to be updated? Is this wall in a bathroom or a kitchen? What
plumbing requirements are needed for that kitchen? What plumbing requirements are needed
for that bathroom? All these things need to be worked out before you put any plasterboard
or dry wall up.
03:47 S1: Good luck with your project, and I hope this video has helped! Great tips Knackers!
