Hi my name is Rachel Deon for Expert Village. I rinsed the fruits under running tab water
to make all the soap come off. And now we're going to cut the fruits I'm going to show
you how to cut the fruits, clean them up, and get them ready for weighing. First we
need to clean out the fruit from bug bites or rotten parts, you don't want them in you
jam right. You should cut your fruits on the side that you like your jam some people like
big chunks, some people like it very smooth. I just cut it around the peats. You have to
make sure that while cutting it there's none parts no parts of the peats because sometimes
the peats are broken or something and some __ parts can be put in inside. If you like
strawberry jam we usually cook it whole, we just take the top part off. So what we would
do with any other berries, the cherries we usually take the peat out and we leave them
whole. If you like grape jelly and that we leave whole too. The kumquat which is a very
good jam we will slice into circles and take the little peats out and cook into circles
little circles. As I mention before the kumquat has a little bitter taste to it. While cooking
peaches and apricot we cut them in half and cook them like that cause they become very
soft during cooking and there's no need to do more than cutting it into half.
