Strategic Networks - Faculty interview

[MUSIC] Well, the Strategic Networks for me is very important because we talk about differentiation of learning. Helping students learn in the way they learn best and in almost all my classes I use the different ways of learning. The styles of learning such as visual, auditory, kinesthetic, and mixed model. So I try to give students that same freedom when they are presenting material back to me. They can in one class for example I allow them to do their big project in a skit, a song, a dance, a story, a video. Whatever they feel comfortable with. Whatever they're learning in their other classes. If they're in something or into some activities that they think are fun. I've even had a sports metaphor example and it gives them the comfort level that they are explaining things in a way that makes sense to them which is really the important part when they're learning. Multiple Means of Expression are in the eyes of the beholder. If the teacher opens it up, the students will jump into it. I think the biggest problem for most teachers is it seems like a lot of work so they don't try it and I would suggest that they try it on a simple assignment early on to see how it works and then maybe they will be more comfortable with big projects having students use different ways of expression.
