Ro: Hey guys, it’s Ro! Welcome to another Nerdy Nummies! Today I have a special
Ro: guest, Erin! Erin: Hello! Ro: You guys may recognize her, we baked Domo Kun Brownies
Ro: together. Erin: Yes, and they were so fun! Ro: They were so good!
Erin: So yummy!
Ro: Domo brownies! Erin: Yay! Ro: High fives!
Ro: That was a body slam.
Ro: She’s anime… Both: Enthusiast!
Ro: So I’ll put a link down below if you want to go check out her channel, it’s
Ro: All about anime! And it’s really, really cool!
Ro: Today, we are gonna be baking. Erin: Nyan Cat… Ro: Homemade PopTarts.
Erin: Yes! Ro: Yes!
Erin: Mew! Ro: Mew! Erin: Mew, mew! Ro: Mewwww!
Erin: Mew! Ro: Mew!
Ro: Let’s get started!
Erin: Things you will need: A mixing bowl, your favorite pie crust recipe or pie
Erin: crust mix, strawberry jam, a paintbrush, egg, some water…
Ro: A fork, a rectangular cut-out, rolling pin, big knife, and some flour!
Erin: Meow! Ro: Let’s put this together!
Erin: Yeah!
Erin: For this pie crust, all you need is some water. So I’m just gonna dump it in here.
Ro: There we go. Erin: You pour that water baby!
Ro: Then I’m pouring in 1/3 cup of water. And then we’re just gonna mix it together.
Erin: Once your pie crust is all mixed, then you’re going to roll it out.
Ro: So we’re gonna take a little bit of flour, just taking a little handful.
Ro: This is a really thin cutting board mat that I’m using, but you can just cut on
Ro: top of your table if you want to but, I just didn’t want to scratch the table,
Ro: More than it already is! So…
Ro: And then... Erin: Oh yeah! Ro: Take a handful, you can take a handful too! Erin: Yes!
Erin: Oh, I messed up. Ro: And… That’s OK! That’s OK! That’s really good!
Erin: I really messed up! Ro: Steal your friend’s dough!
Erin: If your friend messes up and make a giant mess. Ro: Take all of their dough.
Ro: Now, just roll him out! Erin: OK.
Ro: Now you’re gonna take your rectangle cut out, boop-boop-boop! I just cut this
Ro: out, out of the pie box! So nothing fancy, just a little piece of cardboard,
Ro: whatever shape you want your pop tart to be. I wanted them to be a little
Ro: larger, so, going with that. And then we’re gonna take a big knife,
Ro: and cut it out. And you’re gonna cut out 2 of them,
Ro: 1 for the top, 1 for the bottom.
Ro: Once you’ve cut out all your rectangles, we’re gonna fill them with jam!
Erin: How much do I do? Just 1 spoonful? Ro: About a spoonful, just like that.
Ro: Right in the middle. Erin: Like that? So that’s enough?
Ro: And then spread it really flat. Around the border, you’re gonna put a little
Ro: bit of egg wash, and all egg wash is, is a little bit of water and then
Ro: 1 egg white, and that’s what I have the little paintbrush for.
Ro: Now you’re just gonna take the egg wash with the little paint brush and just
Ro: brush all the outer edges, so that your top piece will stick.
Ro: Do you want to try to pick up the top piece and put it on the top?
Erin: I might ruin it, I might ruin it! Ro: I trust you!
Erin: Oh no! That’s not good. Ro: We’re gonna get crazy, let’s do it!
Ro: Just pick it up, yeah… Erin: I don’t want to, I’m so nervous, oh no!
Ro: You got it, I’ll spot ya! Like a coach at the gym.
Erin: If I mess up I want you to stay my friend. Ro: I’ll spot ya!
Erin: Oh god I already messed up. Ro: Here you go, ready?
Erin: Thanks Ro! Ro: We can do it, we can do it! Erin: You got all my mess off!
Ro: We can do it together with friendship! Erin: OK, so then... So then just like that?
Ro: Yeah, just connect the ends. I'm pressing
Ro: down lightly on the edges, but then we’re gonna go around and use a fork.
Ro: High five! Erin: Oh, that was really bad… Ro: That was really bad.
Erin: I’ve… Uhhhhh. Ro: Ohhhh.
Ro: Now you take a fork and you’re gonna use the edges, press down, all the way
Ro: around, roop! Like so! Here, you do the other long side.
Erin: Do I need to go more in? Ro: No that’s good! Erin: Oh it, oh.
Ro: That’s OK, that’s OK!
Ro: He’s a unique sunflower! Erin: Look at him!
Ro: Err, ah, snowflake… What am I saying?
Ro: Once you’ve put them all together, now we’re gonna stick ‘em in the oven,
Ro: at 450 and bake for 7 minutes.
Erin: Oooh! Ro: Oh yeah! Erin: Oh yeah!
Ro: Yeah, these are gonna get hot! Erin: Oh man! Ro: Yeah! Erin: yeah!
Ro: Dang, every time we try to high five…
Ro: While the PopTarts are baking, we are going to make the decorations.
Ro: Erin is Vannah-ing this piece of paper, where I printed out little Nyan Cat.
Erin: Nyah-nyah! Ro: Heads.
Ro: And, they can also stick to Erin, she’s so talented. Erin: Hold. Ro: Watch this.
Both: Ahhhhh!
Ro: That’s magic, I learned it from Harry Potter!
Ro: So we’re gonna take this piece of paper, and tape it on a piece of cardboard.
Erin: You want it this way or flipped? Ro: Uh, yeah that’s good.
Ro: Then you’re gonna take a piece of wax paper, and put it on top,
Ro: and tape down the edges, make sure it’s nice and tight.
Ro: Now you’re gonna take cookie icings, I made up these 4 bags,
Ro: we have gray, white… Erin: Pink and black! Ro: Yeah! Erin: Yeah!
Ro: And we’re just gonna trace out the shape and let it sit for a few hours.
Ro: Make sure it’s completely dried before you try to pick it up and put it
Ro: on top of the PopTart.
Ro: Ding! They’re done! They’re all out of the oven, make sure they’ve had plenty of
Ro: time to cool before you start to decorate. What you’ll need is: your pink
Ro: cookie icing. Erin: Oooh! Ro: And… Erin: Sprinkles!
Ro: They’re red, red sugar sprinkles!
Ro: Let’s put this together!
Ro: Now we are gonna add the little kitty heads, the little mew-mew heads!
Erin: Aw, so cute! Ro: And just be really, really careful, make sure they’ve had
Ro: plenty of time to dry, and if you want you can even leave them out overnight
Ro: to make sure that they’ve completely dried.
Ro: It just depends how thick the frosting is.
Ro: And then you’re going to very carefully, I use the edge of the table,
Ro: to just work, the frosting, off of the wax paper! This is a really slow sentence! Erin: Careful!
Ro: And then, gently put it on top!
Both: Come on, come on, come on! Ro: Come on kitty! Erin: Yeah, yeah! Yeah!
Ro: Ohhh! Yeah he’s so cute! Erin: Perfect!
Ro: This is another high five time. Erin: Can we get it right this time?
Erin: No! Ro: Dang it! That’s 3 for 3!
Ro: We’ve got all the frosting on, and then their little mew-mew heads. And then we
Ro: sprinkled them on top, and now, with all of these. Erin: Oh wow!
Ro: Uh, Erin, you take these. With all of these! We are going to make Rainbow butt!
Ro: At the end of our PopTart.
Erin: This poor guy… Ro: Yeah, he’s… Erin: He got a little, he got a little derpy.
Ro: He, had not completely cooled, he was a little bit too warm
Ro: when we put on the cookie icing. It will be the first to be eaten!
Erin: Ha-ha wow! Ro: Ah-rah-rah-rah-rah-rah-rah!
Both: Ta-da! Erin Aw!
Ro: They turned out so cute! Thanks you guys for suggesting it.
