Here's a great question. "I'm not necessarily interested in buying wood kitchen cabinets.
Are there any alternative materials that I can look at?" And I'm going to talk about
a couple of those. My name is Carter Chill and I'm with The Organized Cabinet.
You know, although wood is the most popular species in terms of kitchen cabinets in the
United States, there are some alternatives that you might want to consider. One of them
is Laminate. Laminate is simply a film that has been printed to lay on a substrate. And
a substrate is nothing more than a block of dense particle board called Medium Density
Fiboard or MDF. Now this MDF is constructed in a way it can be machined so a manufacturer
can machine a design out. This film then is laid over the top of that substrate. And with
heat and pressure, it forms a wood lookalike door. And it can also be a solid color, it
can be a pattern. The advantage to this type of substitute to
wood is that it has lower cost. And although it isn't real wood, it really does create
a pretty close facsimile so it can be used in, maybe, lower budget applications. However,
it can also be used as a fashion forward statement if you want to have a certain color or certain
pattern on your laminate. I don't want you to equate laminate necessarily with low-end
because this is an example of a product that is a high-end white laminate that can be used
for a kitchen application where the consumer wants a really clean-looking antiseptic white
kitchen. Now the third possibility that you might consider
is the smallest part of the market but at the same time, it can also be very fashion-forward
and edgy. And that's steel or metal. Now, stainless steel can be used to coordinate
with your existing appliances. Metal might be used in some lower-end application when
you're looking for basic storage. The advantages are that it's going to have real high-end
fashion look but it also can be economic depending on what those applications are. The disadvantage
is anybody that has stainless steel appliances knows that they can be susceptible to scratching
and some dents, those types of issues but it can certainly be an acceptable product.
I hope that answers your questions. If you have any more or you have any comments, please
