The first part is source development. That is where you're going to start building a
scrap file. A scrap file is your collection of inspirational images, anything that you
found that are in magazines or anything that strikes you and makes you moved, feel, when
you feel something when you see it, you like it for color, any aspect of it that talks
to you personally start, in your daily life every day, start ripping things out at the
doctor's office. Don't do it blatantly, but rip things out at the doctor's office, stick
them in your purse. When you're looking at magazines at home write things down. Carry
a sketchbook with you. Keep a sketch book in your purse or in your briefcase, anywhere,
in your car even, and when an idea hits you, provided you're not in traffic, jot it down.
It doesn't have to be perfect. It's all going to compile into something that you will, at
a later point in time when you start designing, you'll see oh that inspired me and that did
too. Oh those are kind of related. Oh well therefore this is what I'm going to base my
collection on. Oh I see, and things will come together that you think are all scattered
at first, but they'll come together and you'll begin to have a coherent image of what you
want to do.
