Well, good morning.
Well guys, what I have to show to you today is a reflection upon the greatest tool we have
to promote democracy here in Brazil.
Democracy in general.
Which is vote.
Vote is the only tool we citizens have to really change something.
Vote. We use it every 4 years.
There's an election, you vote and wait for 4 years to vote again in that deputy or senator.
Then, I asked myself a question that really annoyed me:
"What did my vote doing to me in this gap of time?" "What's happening there?"
To answer this question
maybe to cool me down a little, we started to design a platform called "Vote na Web".
Which is a very simple platform,
actually, we, as regular citizens, can vote on laws as deputies.
So, by simply voting "yes" or "no", I got in real time a national wide scenery of the citizen's desires.
Because, we have a desire
we vote, and automatically we transfer this desire
for deputies and senators to vote in our behalf during 4 years.
And we don't exactly know what they do with our desire.
This is a little difficult, a little nasty to run after this information, it's too far.
So, from the moment we assemble this scenery in real time about the citizen's desire
we have noticed that is very dynamic and charmed me a lot
because in addition to show the group age
which drawn my attention most, which excited me in this project more
is that from the moment I have our picture of our desires
as soon as a law is voted, I can draw a graphic at side and show the actions from our deputies
what they are doing.
I can make a comparison in real time of what we want and what deputies and senators are doing
every day with the power we give to them to vote in our behalf.
Obviously this graphic is illustrative and I don't know if the difference will be this huge.
Maybe we have to wait a little until the system work,
and we, from TED community, hope you help us to make this work
to allow us to compare this every day and to see how our representatives are there,
working for us.
And what about my vote?
There I see a national wide scenery, but what about my vote?
What does is my vote doing for me?
So, we can do over my profile and the deputies' and senators' and get an affinity list
from most affinity to lesser affinity
in which is voting.
And besides, I can compare my vote to what my candidate is doing
I can compare online in real time
if those person I gave the power to vote in my behalf is really acting as I would act.
Because I vote on him usually believing on a speech during the election period.
But, and afterwards? When this is forgotten? What happens?
To answer this question we also make
this possibility to compare what you desire and what the person you have elected is doing.
This is a platform that is on the air precisely now,
it's not coincidence, we chose November 15, as Helder gave us the tip,
to release this system and to be here at TED to deliver this to us Brazilians to also make this reflection.
Taking some from the hook of the other speakers,
annoys me a lot a cultural issue in Brazil that is the criticism.
You come and criticize.
You look on the political scenery and criticize. This is the easiest.
But, and then, what can we do?
So, today you will leave here and yes, you can do something, you can place your intentions and your face:
"I want this!"
If you are doing this, it is the deputy problem.
You are now able to pass this criticism universe, are beyond this, that I think Brazil needs more now
to go a step further, to not only criticize, and pointing flaws.
Taking the hook from Dennis Russo, in the first speech
in which he talks about big problems we have in Brazil, good problems we have in Brazil.
I see this criticism behavior, which this generation coming now don't have,
as a very good problem to face and solve,
to able us to pass this universe.
We believe that with this we are contributing a lot to strengthen even more the democracy in Brazil.
Well, very fast, is that.
