Hello this is Miguel Gomez with AIDS.gov.
I am honored to be here with the senior representative
from the AIDS 2012 conference.
M’am, I would actually like you to share with our audience,
what are the goals of AIDS 2012?
The theme for AIDS 2012 is “Turning the Tide together.”
And with this theme our goal is to bring together leading scientists,
public health experts, policy makers
and the *** affected communities to translate
more recent and monumentous scientific advances
into action which will address the means to the end
of the AIDS epidemic.
With the current context of the scientific global
economic challenges,
the conference will have the opportunity
to have a positive impact on the ***/AIDS response globally,
in the United States and in Washington D.C. in particular.
We would like to provide advice to the US government
working domestically and working globally.
How could those two audiences get involved in AIDS 2012?
So Miguel, it is funny you should say that because
this is a global conference,
so the answer is the same for our international
and our domestic audience.
There are three ways to get involved; first register.
December 1 is the registration opening date for the conference.
If you aren’t able to attend the conference
due to financial constraints, location,
you just can’t get to Washington D.C., we’re going to offer hubs.
Those hubs are mini conferences,
where we bring the conference to you.
There are more information on hubs on our website.
And then if you are attending the conference,
we have programs such as the global village,
the youth program which really gives everybody
an opportunity to participate.
And overall be a part of the exhibits and poster sessions
and plenary and workshops that will happen.
Overall we have over 240 plenary and workshop sessions
that will happen over the course of five days.
Recently, Secretary Hillary Clinton supported policy
to move us towards an AIDS free generation.
How can the conference help meet those goals?
Well with the current context of the
scientific global economic challenges,
the conference will have an opportunity to have
a positive impact on the ***/AIDS response
both globally and internationally
as well as right here in Washington, D.C.
To learn more, you mentioned that web address,
but let’s give folks that web address, what is it?
www.AIDS2012.org, that's AIDS2012.org
Well thank you, this is Miguel Gomez with AIDS.gov.
