violence continues to ask lee in Cairo and across Egypt supporters I love the
Halsted for President Mohammed Morsi and the police the military and their allies
continue to clash mainly as a result of protests better
concentrated centered in Cairo but they are occurring in cities throughout Egypt
and now the the violence has been escalating throughout the day and we
don't know Inc
entirely like specifically how many people died i've seen reports
for about 60 all the way up until almost a 100 people
now we've had our previous days in this week Wednesday over 300 people were
killed
I'm so comparatively the violence is a little bit lower but though the Muslim
Brotherhood is coming out and saying that they want a week
they previously said they wanted a hour per week reconciliation now they're
saying the protests that will continue
and so we can expect the violence will is likely to escalate
throughout the coming days so at let me jump in here with a couple other updates
to
so as we know on wednesday's violence is more than 600 people killed now
in today we have the numbers a John quality but then there's also this
the number police have been killed family 67 police officers have been
killed in the country since Wednesday
and about eight have been killed in various places on Friday
so now it is becoming of course more more clear that the Muslim Brotherhood
is also are now that doesn't mean they started shooting
but apparently it does mean that they apparently have joined
in the shooting there's also been Coptic churches that have been burned
so the battle battle unfortunately is joined
now a some other protests
a the cops to say and they're showing videos
a Muslim Brotherhood guys firing from the grout
but on the other hand reporters that are neutral and independent that are on the
scene
say largely the crowds and the protesters are
all know armed when they first get Shana so that's
of course is a whole wide range reporting on this
and its kinda a mess in there but that's the best we
reports we've got so for yep and you we've we've got a couple pictures will
show you in some quotes %uh this quote from other Egyptian Minister of Defense
this is a scary quote so Ahmed Ali says when dealing with terrorism the
consideration of civil and human rights for not
applicable and I mean look there have been some acts of terrorism we we had
reports uva
as a train lines being destroyed by palms and things like that
but for the most part he's talking about terrorism here is talking about people
who are unarmed were protesting
their gathering and that is enough to warrant charges of terrorism the current
situation
Cara yet know that quote led me to believe know the military basically says
no holds barred work we're gonna kill 'em it isn't it a semi-rigid other quote
that's also disturbing
and just not as disturbing but it just shows how difficult it's going to be
overall to come up with a solution here
or even know exactly what it is that we want to do
the a this is a quote from the Brotherhood's political wing the Freedom
and Justice Party
released a statement today and they say they're not backing down and call will
continue to mobilize people to take to the streets without resorting to
violence vandalism all that part
we like but then they say the struggle to overthrow the sludge illegitimate
your G
regime is an obligation an islamic national more on human obligation which
we will not stay away until justice and freedom
prevail until they are until the repression is conquered but like you
know
it's like it's tough man it's a
because personal if your doctor if you're going to struggle to overthrow
illegitimate regime
me you get you're gonna need some weapons yeah
I and you know and again the Islamic national more oh I get it that the
Muslim Brotherhood
of course they're gonna reference that it's the Islamic duty
but it's just it seems irreconcilable without one story
anywhere about what is secretly happening behind the scenes what
negotiations are taking place
to bring this the way our right so well leading me to believe that there are
giving well there used to be
it turns out the European Union and the United States were leading negotiations
last week
same hey if they're military release a couple the
leadership a Muslim Brotherhood Muslim Brotherhood will scale back their
protest in the sentence
but that was scuttled it and there are some legitimate press reports the was
scuttled when John McCain went to Egypt and said it's a coup
in the military got really mad an army and apparently just
said okay no deal he'd a been a great president
%uh yeah but what this would have happened because we
our eyes would be on a run which would be in our 4th year our invasion
straight so there was interesting idea to also floated last week or maybe the
beginning in this week that idea
and perhaps coming at the same ago she asians I'm not sure that Morsi
would come back on an interim basis for
know the idea was that he would come back for I think was sixty days
is the right something along that period time before transitioning
to a new interim government with elections scheduled
now I find that year inconceivable with their its currency the military
now well that's good they've that was scuttled by them
yes exactly the other ones who said no I don't think so yeah I was Subban made as
a geologist who's a protester he's
a.m. progressing with the Muslim Brotherhood he said
we know they're going to kill us tonight and
all your *** the you be our witness witnesses
so it's it's a mess then of course there's burning buildings and got a
picture that
I and then there's a point picture over a woman who was literally caught in the
crossfire
on a bridge and she can't go to either side because they're firing
that serve very telling picture *** terrorist
yet clearly I'm either nobody here's a hard thing as a as an outsider as an
american looking in the situation there now
once they start slaughtering peaceful unarmed protesters in some situations
obviously our inclination is to feel bad for them
into into you know wish the best for them in the future which does not look
right at this point
and yet we know we know what their side got up to when they were in power and
it's not like
well you know these are the good guys and if only they could get back into
power than Egypt's future will be bright
as an outsider looking in there's no side to support in this anymore
yet was so its really interest me you brought up John because
it makes me for the first time I it happened about
I thing Wednesday it made me think mmm
I'm beginning to have strains a libertarian us like not economically
n you would think well look I was against the worst to begin with but
Big Ben as you know I'm not against always loses against iraq because those
insane right and I believe it was against Afghanistan after we say there
for about
873 years I was fine with the first couple years rather
pro war protest I did I was in fair the persian gulf war syndrome but as I look
at my
isolationism as a ship no libertarian same get the hell outta the world area
okay the Rand Paul's the Ron Paul a libertarian for both yeah
and and you know the West clark also knees on a libertarian but was cargoes
met totally a dove course was for junior who comes on our show
toll in a good book gifts I did get the hell out get their high we're not gonna
be able to do think this
and as I'm looking over some thinking wat why were we had a min ago she asian
*** what we have to do with this was a lose-lose for us
the Muslim Brotherhood wins we lose if this dictator
like is an indication with his military that's acting like a dictatorship when's
the loss for us
why do I don't know I didn't know that the libertarian foreign policy met we
can spearhead peace negotiations that seems crazy
I mean that's that know I know I was just my general frustration saying like
we got no role in this get the hell away a door guard to
our roller how we're trying to exercise our power in Egypt right now now over
the past few days after
I i guess in the middle of the week that the large sports about so we saw then
other was a lot of criticism in the press about you look at these weapons
that we funded being used to slaughter these peaceful protesters
which is obviously horrible though i mean that that that money has been
dished out for decades now it can be used for most anything at this point
but we do know now that although it might just be covering up Brock Obama
and other members of the executive branch did contact the military
in Egypt and they were trying to get them to back off apparently that the
military was not listening
not enough they're so pissed about the John McCain thing and
but we are trying to I guess in some way the head of something about yeah let's
not successfully
it let's not kid ourselves this is a horrible situation but I mean can it be
worse
yeah specific a lot worse at a time no it's not exactly what onward yeah
and that they were about I don't think I Senate us in the European Union attempt
to defuse the situation
or even floating ideas like bringing Morsi back for two weeks which the
military obviously didn't want
that somehow or hurts us know I thought that you were over emphasizing that
all I'm saying is there it is it's not a black-and-white issue
and how and no and I I'm tired of being in the middle of all this
right eso I don't know how he just gonna sorted out
and I wish them luck and I'm scared to death for what's going to happen next
well ok let me show you one last picture here more features a body bag see
right and as you see this it's hard not to sympathize with the Muslim
Brotherhood
now I don't and I hope made this clear million per cent I don't agree with
their ideology even one percent
I'm totally secular I think they're totally wrong
that doesn't mean you get to do this to them not only is a bad for the Muslim
Brotherhood whose being killed
it's a terrible idea for the country and as I look at that picture I think
there's a decent chance we're gonna go to civil war
interview civil war in the most populous Arab nation
that is a recipe for disaster for the law all-world
check let me and this segment with this thought just because it struck me as
watch those pictures and i was looking at those pictures yesterday and today
member when two years ago the military
under Mubarak would not fire on
the protesting civilians mmm I mean that seems
like a whole other generation ago this is the same motor
yeah yet and and what I don't want to happen is that the world and
US and people like us react differently when they kill Muslim Brotherhood as
opposed to when they kill
liberal secular revolutionaries I get this was having a little cycle
secular revolutionaries I mean would be I don't know what we be doing buddy we
wouldn't be having this reaction
we'd be having a march much stronger reaction
and that's not right and that gives the Muslim Brotherhood a feeling of
injustice
and and martyrdom which is if you do not want to give
by the Muslim Brotherhood the moral high ground before this they had not earned
it
now you've put in there and it's a terrible idea
