To show the situation of poor children of Cambodia This documentary aims
and how our organization "OUR HOME" helps them
OUR HOME is located in Phnom Penh, Cambodia's capital
NGO provides food, shelter, education for 60 children
Today we visit some villages
which surround the discharge of Phnom Penh
This is where we find many child
living in difficult conditions
The discharge of Phnom Penh in 2005 (children and adults working together)
This is a buyer They come to us to buy all sorts of things
Vibol: What type of waste you collect? Villager: Hm... everything: empty bottle,
Vibol: They need it? Villager: (continue) tin...
Vibol : They'll buy everything? Villager: Yes, absolutely.
Vibol: How much do you get paid? Villager: I stock for 7-8 days
... and I can earn between 7000 and 8000 Material ($ 1 -2)
The people of these villages live in bungalows like this
Poverty and polluation are the main problems in the area .
Especially since at the age of 10 years children start working at landfill
rather than going to school.
In the village we find children and even babies playing among workers
This is a siphonniers
The tape devices to recover copper and all materials that may sell
He works every day from 7am to 18pm.
All to earn about $ 20 / week
It usually works with his wife
the money they earn is barely enough to pay for food
and repay micro-credit that they contracted for medical treatment of their child
Most workers we encounter are very focused on their tasks
We were not allowed to enter inside discharge
but we were able to take these pictures from a remote corner
Roeun, 12, already a little soldier discharge
where he worked with his mother
Bravely he wins 1 or $ 2 in discharge
which is not much for a family 6 girls and 3 boys
There harbor bags of about 10kg
Says that the hardest part is to put it on his head
Sometimes he goes to school in the afternoon
Sour Sdey (Hello)
When we leave, we stopped by 2 little girls who want to play.
But we must still say goodbye
Now we head towards another village, who are enduring the same problems
We find this advertising at the entrance of the village
curious displays, given the real needs poor villagers who live in the area
Judging few smiles of children, we could believe that all is well
but we quickly learn the difficulty of their situation
This old lady stays in the village everyday.
She cooks for all workers.
Except her and very young children, all adults and children will work.
When we ask him his opinion on the situation of children
she just expresses his helplessness us
because there is simply no other choice for children who live here
We offer it to recover some children at the orphanage
They are at the orphanage week and they would return the weekend home
The son of this man has left school recently
He had stopped to help her parents to discharge
but now he is sick he worked usually 3-4 days / week
This man is not the only with a sick child.
All workers, adults and children, spend long days at the landfill.
To do and earn some sort their lives. The village itself is filled with waste
as workers bring bags to continue to sort.
We visit a house that has all its walls pierced.
Imagine what the condition of the house during heavy
and frequent rain in the wet season.
In this village, we find about 60 children would need to be placed in an NGO.
And in the area we are talking about 500 children who live in the area
which surrounds the landfill.
Adults regularly call NGO, in the hope that they welcome more children.
But often these organizations already working at full capacity.
Children make us a warm goodbye.
Our organization plans to host some of these underprivileged children.
In our orphanage in Phnom Penh.
When we return to OUR HOME, we must endure the country's roads
The Kingdom of Cambodia has many broken roads pretty temples.

George, a French volunteer
I am from France and I helped out as an electrician.
I installed more powerpoints and helped renovate the buildings.
I taught one French class per day for the youngest children
and then we spent a lot of time playing with the kids.
We brought them to play rugby, football, all sorts of activities during the week.
David, another French volunteer who teaches English
Basically Our Home covers all the primary needs,
that are most important to children so they can grow
but they still require the presence of adult
They need people who care about them, talking with them
playing with them, teaches them discipline
The children seem happy here, but we can notice
they are a little left to themselves
they are all together as a group or small group
where even sometimes only
there is not enough personal to take care of them
To make sure they go well with them to talk
I think what they need most here
is to have someone or some people that might a relationship close
with each child
whereby they can discuss with them
and trust them
and say what they need to say
I do not know, hugs too...
I guess they need a lot of cuddling
All volunteers, we can see that children need
they jump into our arms and say David, David, Professor, teacher...
This is great, and we can see that their lack
their parents lack the emotional side to
that parents should give their
And discipline that parents should teach their
Some children are more difficult than others
and I wish I could talk to them
and ask them, why are you doing this? What's wrong?
Why are you hard with others? Or with yourself?
But obviously I can not because I do speaks Khmer
and sometimes they go too far and are bad things as a child
so they need to have someone to correct
and to teach them good manners
I can imagine that grow well
they have no hunger, nor cold, nor sleep in the rain
they seek more food in bins
so it's a good thing they can grow healthily
But the emotional side always miss them and their parents as
Vibol has many project
let optimistic when he realized his projects and get desired funds
I'm sure there will be more of staffs working for the NGO
whose task will be to address all the needs of all children
Today we are in a small village called Kork
in Takeo province
2 hours south of Phnom Penh
Once there was a clinic for the village children, founded by Vibol
many student OUR HOME is a native of this province.
Because of a lack of funds, the center was once filled with child
is now closed.
This is a family that Our Home has helped, we have helped
their child study in Phnom Penh.
Now he has found work in the Mondulkiri province and
he is experiencing social reintegration.
How old was he when you took him?
I took the child when he was 6 years old.
6 years. And how long did he stay for?
He stayed here for a long time, 14 years with Our Home.
A little further, we come to the home of one of our students
We will visit the home of the student who is assisted by OUR HOME
His mother called Srey Pich. These parents are suffering from AIDS.
They also have a daughter, and the family is very poor.
First of all I would like to thank OUR HOME
My name is Piseth. I come from Takeo province
My family lives on agriculture and live in OUR HOME for 7 years
because my family is poor
They could not finance my studies at university
I decided to leave my province to continue my studies at the university
Phnom Penh with the help of NGO OUR HOME.
Today I studied law
I chose law because my goal is to help my family and society in the future
My next goal is to finish my years, I hope I
do my best to help my country
It is the first creative NGO OUR HOME.
She agreed to take a child in the body of human rights in Cambodia
she was responsible for him until his majority
and then I saw that was difficult for my mother
I stopped working with FRIEND before I was working with another NGO
and I created OUR HOME in 1999 to help my mother
Back to orphanage Vibol recalls the past of OUR HOME
The kitchen is perhaps the busiest place orphanage
Our cook Lavy work 7 days / 7 to feed sixty child
and about 10 adults, all without pay
The operation of the orphanage is great party
due to the generosity of volunteers
fortunately Lavy is often aided by other staffs and students
smey is one of our alumni, is supported by two French sponsorships
I came to Our Home 8 years ago with a colleague
We created pamphlets to promote sponsorship and on this occasion
I took Reaksmey to support his studies when he was 15 years old.
His studies went well and so Vibol asked me to be Smey's financial aid.
The principle of sponsorship is to regularly donate money to one
student on a long-term basis so the student can continue
his or her studies past high school.
I live here since I'm 6th, since that time I am sponsored by Maya Dumont
and supports me until I finish my studies
I also found another sponsor
in the person of Rion Odile . It helps me through the Amanjaya Association
I would like to thank Maya Dumont and Rion
and also Amanjaya.
Currently I am studying in 4th year University of Medicine
and I think in the future I could help children and my country
and also OUR HOME. Otherwise, I work as an assistant to Mr Vibol.

I do not have money to go to school. The school was too far,
my family was poor. My father died and my

this is why my mother brought me here, thinking it was better for me
and to reduce costs at home
here I go to school, but before I could not
because the school was too far and I did not bike
is why my mother wanted I come live here
I have 3 brothers, but they did not live together
I came to live alone my first brother stayed at home
my 2nd brother lives in a temple as a monk
I am the 3rd, and my little brother lived with my aunt
but it was difficult for her to deal him, it caused problems
that's why she sent him to live with me

Every morning before school, children sing the national anthem
This morning we return to the village near the discharge
where people expect us firmly
2 weeks ago, the villagers called us every day
and for months they hoped that NGOs come help
the question, who wants to study?
All DEVELOP hand.
The last child that we welcome on board is Kong, nicknamed Bouli
3 years and he has no parents.
He was being cared for by Some villagers
Pheara is thoughtful, he remembers once it was one of them
