None of us want to age any quicker than we have to. But some of might not be aware of
these Non Healthy Foods. They appear to be healthy and often promoted as such, but beware!
These Non Healthy Foods Should Be Avoided
Food #1 -- Wheat
When it comes to aging, wheat can actually speed up the aging process through substances
called Advanced Glycation End Products (AGEs), which are produced in high amounts in response
to rising blood sugar levels.
And, as you know, most wheat-based products spike your blood sugar levels. When your blood
sugar rises, insulin levels follow. And increased insulin leads to a greater release of IGF-1
which can lead to skin problems, among other issues.
Food #2 -- Sugar
Similar to wheat, sugar wreaks havoc on your blood sugar levels, which increases your risk
0f type 2 diabetes, obesity, heart disease, dementia, and pretty much everything else.
Replace the sugar with stevia or even xylitol if you need a little sweetness in your daily
tea, decaf coffee, or other beverage. These are a little more in line with healthy foods.
Food #3 -- Corn (and its derivatives)
Corn, high fructose corn syrup (HFCS), corn cereals and chips, etc...
Other than the fact that almost all corn we have access to is heavily genetically modified
it turns out that scientists that the fructose in HFCS causes 10x more formation of AGEs
in your body than glucose!
That means the HFCS you consume daily in sweetened drinks, and most other processed foods contribute
to faster aging in your body... as if you needed yet another reason to avoid or minimize
high fructose corn syrup. This is another main culprit in non healthy foods.
Food #4 -- Omega-6 Vegetable Oils
Enter canola oil, soybean oil, safflower oil, and sunflower oil (just to name a few). These
heavily GMO'd, processed, and inflammation-creating oils are deadly.
Since they are high in omega-6 (in relation to omega-3) they create a cascade of undesirable
inflammation inside your body.
So What Have We Learned About Non Healthy Foods?
And inflammation has been associated with every health issue we know of, especially
dementia and Alzheimer's.
So, if you care about your brain (and your health), then ditch these garbage oils and
focus on the good ones instead...which include flax/fish/hemp oils, olive oil, and coconut
oil (just to name a few).
So hopefully this has given you some insight as to what these non healthy foods can do
to your body and your system. It's nearly impossible to avoid them completely, but it
does well to be informed so that we can make better choices in the food that we eat.
Staying away from processed and packaged foods should help in eliminating some of these destructive
ingredients. Also, eating clean (fresh, natural food) will help avoid some of the challenge
in deciding what to eat, as these foods are not modified or processed.
Just be sure to wash or rinse your fruits and vegetables to make sure you are eating
the best product possible.
