We're seeing in the industry and hearing from a lot of customers that they're struggling
to manage larger volumes of short run jobs. As the industry changes from the long run
offset to the short run digital, that are coming in from web-to-print, MIS and other
systems that are generating jobs automatically, the number of jobs increases dramatically.
What we've been able to do is invest in our R&D team and bring to life a new solution
called SmartStream Production Center. It's going to give you tremendous visibility into
what's happening on your floor and it's automating sequences of pre-press, production, finishing,
packing and shipping.
Production Center is a great product. It's allowed us to really change how we do business.
DME is a direct marketing company that's been in existence since 1982. We really started
out primarily as a direct mail agency, but over the years we started to morph into taking
more print-on-demand and web-to-print.
Instead of doing 10 large jobs in a day, we are now doing anywhere from 100 to 3,000 jobs
in one day. It was really chaotic. We had no means of tracking the jobs.
When HP had asked us if we wanted to beta test Production Center I was all in. It has
allowed us to really understand what jobs are in the building, to be able track them
through all the different equipment that we have, and this has really helped us engage
with our customers better and made us save time and money.
I see the future real clear because we've been able to integrate all of our different
printing technologies into one view, so every part of it has been a real asset to us.
