Hey, I'm Thea, a beauty trends expert at StyleUnited,
and today I'm going to teach you how to stud your own clothes.
So, I really like working with denim,
these are just an old pair of cut-off jeans.
And it's good for, you know, jazzing up something that
you probably would donate or give away otherwise.
So, I ordered my studs online.
I like to work with lots of different sizes just because
it gives a cool intricate look to your studding designs.
So as you can see, I already got started.
I'm using some quarter inches, some half inches,
also, some cones, and then, of course,
the tools you'll need are tweezers and a hammer.
You don't need a hammer this small, but it does help,
especially for those intricate, tiny ones.
You can get a hammer this size at your craft store,
or even a hardware store.
It might not have flowers though.
So I already got started on mine,
you can kind of see the design going there.
And the technique to studding is to really listen to your hands.
So first of all, your hands will probably hurt,
so don't keep pushing through.
If they start to hurt, just take a break,
maybe apply some lotion and then start again.
So you're going to take your stud
and then poke it through your denim.
As you can see, they come through about like that.
No worries if they're a little bit crooked.
If you are worried about them being straight,
you can go through with a pencil and try to fix them,
try to lay them out.
So, you're gonna take the studs and you're gonna take
your tweezers, and then flip them down.
They don't have to go all the way down because
you're gonna hammer down the rest of that detail.
It does require a little bit of force, but not too much.
So you can tell they're about flat like that.
So, then take your hammer and then hammer.
So then they start to curve kind of with the stud,
with the sides.
So now you can tell that they're really held into the denim.
Next, I'll use one of these cones and I just poke it through
so it looks like that on the back, and then,
just support your stud on the front and then fold.
Of course, again, they don't have to go all the way down
when you're just folding them.
So these ones are a little further up than
my last ones were, which is still okay
because you can then use your hammer.
Watch your fingers.
And then you have your studs.
So just repeat that a lot and you should be great.
Happy studding.
