Street-Beat From Irbid:Parliamentary Election Results.
Did You Vote In The Parliamentary Elections?
Yes I voted.
I elected.
Yes, I did vote.
Yes I did vote in the elections, and they were not fair.
I was boycotting [the elections], but then I voted last minute.
Personally, I boycotted the elections - I did not vote.
Did the candidate you voted for win?
He lost.
He won.
Honestly, no, he didn't win - he lost.
He won, but it turned out that he lost in the end.
He lost of course, although I was convinced he would win.
What do you think of the elections results?
I think they were fair and organized.
I think they were excellent, really excellent.
Nothing's right.
We there at the polling center when they were counting votes.
They said he won,
but then did a re-countůsaid he wonůthen did a re-count three more times and he lost in the end.
The candidate I elected, up until around 2:30am - 3:30am in the morning he had approximately 3,700 votes
before the counting of votes ended. But the next day, the was 3200 votes. How did this happen?
I think the reason was fraud. There were a lot of demonstrations here in Irbid, but I hope I'm wrong.
Of course. We used to say in the past that the government used to interfere[in the elections],
but now for sure it's the head of the regulatory commission that drew up the voting districts,
interfering in it for personal or particular interests, God knows.
I didn't vote because most of the candidates running for the elections this time are the same people who ran for the elections last time,
and I felt the elections are still the same; not progressing.
Society is sick of these things [elections].
We're not talking about the government but about the candidates that were running for the elections.
We heard stories about some people who bought votes, and paid, in addition to doing other illicit things etc.
The government has nothing to do with the results.
We the people were the main concern; we were bribed, bribed, bribed.
There shouldn't be any elections or parliament in my opinion.
Of course I'm convinced, the man I voted for is really good,
and I have faith in him. This is the second time I vote for him and the second time he wins.
We should go back to tribal councils, and stuff like that. It would be much better. The parliament is full of nepotism.
I am convinced that everything in the Jordanian society is full of nepotism.
The son of the minister has to become a minister; the son of an MP has to become an MP. Where do we, the sons of tribes, go?
They brought back the same corrupt men, the same tyrants and bullies to their places in the parliament.
There will be no reform, no amendments, nothing will move forward one centimeter.
I just want to say that there are other parties that want to undermine the elections and say that there were violations.
So you're telling me that you did not vote?
I did vote, I did. But what's the use when the bigger percentage of people
brought back approximately 50-60 of the old members of parliament?
So your candidate didn't succeed?
No he did succeed, but what's the use? You can't clap with one hand.
Are you convinced of the results?
Yes of course, the results are correct, but am I convinced? You, I and we chose.
