Hi! My name is Brent Shelly with Expert Village, and we're talking about lighting design today.
First, I'd like to talk a little bit about what lighting design is and what lighting
designers do. Lighting is really half art and half science. There's an artistic aesthetic
to what we do, and there's definitely an scientific part of what we do, since light is ruled by
the laws of physics. A lighting designer brings to a particular project, solid technical acumen,
in terms of how to get the amount of light that you need, how to use the different light
sources to get the effect that you want, how to be able to provide enough life so that
people can see to do what they need to do, whatever that may be. If it's a commercial
space or residential space. Have a real sensitivity to the mood and the aesthetic of a space and
kind of paint with light if you will from an artistic point of view.
