So my name's Vicky Malin and I'm a professional dancer.
I live in London
and I've been dancing with Candoco Dance Company
for nearly five years.
I'm a dancer, it doesn't matter if I have a disability or not,
I think of myself as a dancer.
So that's a little bit about the company.
My first job I really enjoyed.
I worked as, I worked on a befriending scheme
for my local council.
So what I did was basically took out people of all ages,
young adults or adults with disabilities
and we went out, we socialised, we did fun things.
That was my very first job, which was brilliant.
I really enjoyed it.
I find the thought of barriers really interesting
because I think, not only are barriers put up
by external factors and other people
but we also have our own little barriers.
We need to overcome those for ourselves first.
How many times have you heard yourself saying,
"Oh I'm not quite sure I can do that".
You know, why not just give it a go, have a try at something
because you need to have an open mind
thinking how you can do things, maybe a little bit differently.
OK, I might not be able to do it that way,
but how could I approach this in a different way
to make sure that I can achieve what I want to do?
It's got to be something that you're interested in and passionate about.
