Hi everyone, this is David Ahn, Social Media Manager at SMMU, and welcome to our Newsletter.
This Week in Social Media, we're reflecting on the most prominent and central theme for marketing
in 2014 - which is Mobile.
Mobile is where the attention is most focused and captured, thanks to the ability to receive
messaging anywhere, at any time.
Think about these stats:
Over 116 Million Americans own smartphones... and in 2014 mobile is predicted to take over
desktop usage.
Mobile is completely dominating the social media realm, with Facebook reporting over
70% of all users accessing their service via a mobile device.
This year, content marketing and digital media will need to focus on being functional across
all device platforms through Responsive Web Design.
In addition, local and location-based marketing efforts enable us to find the resources that
we need - in context - at the exact moment that we need it
...meaning over 50 percent of mobile searches lead to a buying decision within the hour.
That's why a staggering 78% of retailers plan to invest in mobile marketing this year.
Last but not least, the technology behind mobile devices and the expansion of mobile
networks means that we can receive and transmit messages better... and faster... every day.
With that said, we give you two articles that will help you begin implementing a Mobile
Marketing strategy right away.
The first article defines several more shocking statistics that detail exactly why mobile
marketing applies to you and your business in the New Year.
And in the second article, you'll get our own personalized 10-point mobile marketing
checklist for your own use.
And if you have any questions about using this checklist, just contact us and we will
help you get started.
... and If you plan on taking your business seriously in 2014, make sure mobile is in the mix.
Thanks, and we wish you great success in the New Year.
