I promised myself to drive a Tesla Model S.
With the opening of the Supercharger at Zevenaar, it seemed a nice opportunity.
There's another tax evader behind us, but here's the Model S.
Charging at the Supercharger.
I've got to hand it to Tesla. EVs get a lot of criticism.
Some say I don't like it. That's not true.
Tesla installed Superchargers all the way to St. Anton in Tyrol.
You can drive from the Netherlands, wherever you live, to St. Anton.
You'll have to charge a couple of times.
We'll be driving a small part of the route and test the car on the Autobahn.
Then we'll know what it's like to drive the Model S Performance fast.
It's limited to 130 mph. High speeds aren't good for an EV's range.
However, we'll get an idea how it works. Just great that it's possible.
I'm not saying it's ideal, but it is possible.
A Supercharger outputs 120 kW, 20x faster charging than a regular charger.
Maybe even faster. The battery is charged for 50% in 20 minutes.
We'll let the car show how far I can drive with that.
That's not necessarily as far as other people can drive with it.
A quick stop at Munich, famous for its Schnitzel.
There's no Superchargers over here. That's a shame.
It's certainly Autobahn proof.
You see the range plummet when you're going really fast,
but if you keep it civilized, you can make it between Superchargers.
You'll just have to wait longer than when fueling up.
