Lg Rises to Third in Global Smartphone Sales in 2013

LG Electronics is quickly catching up to its smartphone rivals... Samsung Electronics and
Apple. The company rose to third in global smartphone
sales last year, beating out companies like HTC and Sony... and jumping up from sixth
in 2012. Market researcher Strategy Analytics said
Thursday... that LG Electronics brought in about 11-point-1 billion U.S. dollars last
year, which is about four-percent of the industry's combined revenue.
The rise in sales was attributed to the popularity of its high-end models such as the Optimus
G, G-Pro and G2 smartphones.
