When you become an English teacher it gives you two great things. Number one: it's easy
to travel around. You always have a job when you travel around the world when you teach
English. And number two, even when you don't travel the world comes to you.
They are almost like a social centre. What I like most about Dublin has definitely got
to be the pubs. They have something that you don't find in other places around the world.
You don't just go to a pub to drink. You go to meet your friends to have a chat. You often
meet people you don't expect to meet. So you go with your friends but you'll often have
a conversation with other people there. And a lot of the pubs that I like to go to there
might be some traditional Irish music.
It's not like a concert where they play and everybody listens to it. They're in one
corner playing and you're in one corner with your friends having a drink. Maybe you can
listen if you like the song, otherwise you can just talk to your friends. You know...
I like that sort of informality about Dublin and about Ireland.
In Dublin you have to be prepared for everything because we've four seasons in one day here.
If you wake up and it's twenty degrees make sure you take your jumper with you because
it could be snowing by the end of the day.
The weather is reflected in the personality of Irish people. I think that makes you a
little bit more changeable like the weather.
For me the location of Seda is just perfect. I love it because it's a street with so much character.
When you walk down Capel Street you won't see one shop that you recognise from around
the world. Every shop on that street is totally unique.
If you look from the school and you look straight down the street and you can see City Hall
and Capel Street was designed to line straight up line that. I think that was one the wonderful things about Dublin...
There being so much history and everything's so old...
When you walk through a city you take part in a way that you don't when you just take
the bus from one place to another. I love to go out in the evening and just walk up
the river or walk down the river, walking in different areas and just see what's happening
on the streets. It's a great way to integrate with the city...
