-It's 4 AM and we are in Hualampong, the main railway station in Bangkok.
Today we'll do something different. We'll try to cross the border to Cambodia.
We've paid 96 Baht for two tickets and that's very cheap. 96 Baht is 1.80 pounds or 3 dollars.
For breakfast, they can't speak english, I can't speak Thai so I just pointed at this thing here.
I don't know what this is but I know there is a raw egg here...
... and it is delicious! Approved.
We will keep on telling you what's going on and how do we get to Cambodia.
Stay with us!
TRAVEL LOG - THAILAND, VIETNAM AND CAMBODIA (ENTRY 08)
CAMBODIA, on the way to Siem Reap
Before exploring South Thailand and it's beaches,
we've decided to take advantage of the transport facilities in Bangkok
and its proximity to neighboring countries.
Our train departed from Hualapong at 5:55 AM for a 6 hours journey to Aranyaprathet
in the Thailand/Cambodia border.
As the day was dawning, the exotic Bangkok urban landscape gave room to a magnificent rural view.
Clickety clacking amongst rice plantations and lotus flower fields,
we spent our time doing the only thing available:
new friends.
-We have just arrived in Aranyaprathet,
even before alighting from the train there was people offering tuk-tuks
and we have agreed on a 50 Baht (£0.96 /$1.50) fare to go to the border.
This is our first tuk-tuk ride, it's not as crazy as I thought, but this thing is really slack!
We are getting to the border so I'll speak to you from Cambodia!
But instead of taking us straight to the border, the tuk-tuk drove us to a 'visa office' where,
uninformed, we've paid 1600 Baht (£31, $50) EACH for a Cambodian visa.
Had we known this trap, we'd ask the driver to get us straight to the border
where we'd have paid only 650 Baht each (£12, $20).
With the new visa stamped in our passports, we crossed the border by foot
entering the city of Poipet.
We then arranged a van for $9 (£6) to take us for a 4 hours ride to our final destination:
Siem Reap in the vicinity of the lost city of Angkor.
We finally arrived in Siem Reap after a 12 hours journey.
We've been trough the immigration which was a bizarre experience.
We only had time for a shower and a quick meal.
Tomorrow, Angkor Wat!
Cut!
