How to Make Matcha Green Tea with a Bamboo Whisk (called a chasen) by Kenko Tea
And Tamzen
powder gently into your bowl or cup.
Matcha tea is fragile, so be take some care and be gentle.
Slowly pour in your hot water (not boiling, boiling water can damage the green tea structure
and burn it, causing a bitter tasting matcha tea, and losing nutrients)
Whisk your tea using the bamboo whisk very quickly, in order to get a layer of froth
or crema on your matcha you will need to whisk very fast. Use a W or M shape when you are
whisking.
If there's any larger bubbles left in your froth, gently pop them with your whisk. (large
bubbles on your matcha are considered improper for the traditional Japanese tea ceremony)
Now drink your matcha tea and enjoy!
