MAKE A COMPLETE LECTURE Let’s go to our last mission:
ON ETHANOL the lecture.
PETROBRAS UNIVERSITY – RJ, 2:30 pm
PETROBRAS UNIVERSITY OFFERS TRAINING, IMPROVEMENT AND
GRADUATE-LEVEL COURSES TO PETROBRAS EMPLOYEES
EACH YEAR, SOME 2,500 DIFFERENT COURSES ARE TAUGHT BY
COMPANY PROFESSIONALS IN PARTNERSHIP WITH INSTITUTIONS FROM
BRAZIL AND ABROAD
- My name is Guilherme - I am Deborah.
- We left São Paulo, a couple weeks ago on Monday, and
took a flight to BH, and that is all we knew was going to happen.
Upon arriving at BH, there was a car waiting for us, and in this car
was an envelope telling us to go to Bambuí, where we would get to know
how sugarcane is planted manually.
- We literally took part in a day of work there, we woke up
at the same time, took the same bus ...
- This is sugarcane planting. We picked up a piece of sugarcane
to bring, but it sprouted...
We picked up another envelope and went to Quirinópolis, in Goiás, which is
700 km away to get to know the technology used in the field.
The envelope said “look for a service station.” We went there, and from
there they sent us to the house of a woman who works in the field and
took us to the mill.
This is the cargo transfer. This tractor that was there, it lifts and puts the
sugarcane on the truck, and this is the truck that will take it to the mill.
While there, we were given an envelope that said “you have to go to the plant in
Tanabi. It is a Guarani plant, which gets the sugarcane and makes the ethanol.
This is where the quality thing starts. They are very meticulous!
From there, from this place where ethanol is made, we went to Paulínia
to check out distribution. This is, basically, where storage is
done. It is stored in tanks.
They receive, divide... This product quality process, here it is the same thing.
And from there, we came to Rio de Janeiro.
Yesterday, we went to CENPES... Have you ever been to CENPES?
Man, that place is the NASA of fuel.
While there, we learned that you can generate more ethanol from sugarcane bagasse.
- It is the same ethanol, but the process is different.
- Here is the process, which we will show you,
the entire 2g ethanol process.
- You, who are not from the technical area, what is your view on this?
- From the final process of all this work we have here, there is one thing
we never imagined there was in the process, and the characters
were very good... the people we met ...
- It was a very enriching opportunity, you know? Seeing it live,
being able to do, to talk with people who do it, witnessing their pride ...
you change a bit, you know?
It ends up being a personal growth process too.
- In it all, I noticed that even those who work in the field don’t consider
their work as if it were only to make money to live on.
They have a systemic view of the importance of their work...
that was very interesting to see.
- Just to wrap things up, do you know the plural of “ethanol”?
It is “etanóis!” (yippee!)
Thank you, folks!
Everyone was still laughing of my little joke when another envelope
appeared. Could it be we had yet
another mission?
“Congratulations, folks! Mission accomplished!
This trip ends here, but your discoveries will be shared with a lot
of people. Anyone visiting
“petrobras.com.br/etanol” will be able to recall this adventure and find out
everything there is to know about this source of energy.
Thanks for your partnership. See you next time!”
Thanks, folks! Thanks a lot!
