a flash flood is a rapid rise of water along a stream or low-lying urban area
it can result from slow-moving thunderstorms
from numerous thunderstorms that developed repeatedly over an area or
from heavy rains associated with tropical cyclones
rapidly moving floodwaters only six inches deep can knock an adult off their feet
while only two feet of water to lift an average automobile
