DEFENSE SECRETARY CHUCK HAGEL ANNOUNCED AUGUST 6TH D-O-D CIVILIAN EMPLOYEES WILL BE FURLOUGHED
FOR SIX DAYS INSTEAD OF ELEVEN , AS INITIALLY ANNOUNCED IN MAY.
DOD MANAGERS ARE MAKING FINAL DECISIONS CONCERNING THE 37 BILLION DOLLAR SPENDING CUTS,WHILE
ALSO MAKING IMPROVEMENTS IN TRAINING AND READINESS.AS A RESULT OF MANAGEMENT INITITIVES AND REDUCED
COSTS,
THE NAVY HAS BEEN ABLE TO RESTART SOME MAINTENENCE AND ORDER DEPLOYMENTS THAT, OTHERWISE, WOULD
NOT HAVE HAPPENED.
