The Strange Death of Elisa Lam - Documentary

On February 19th 2013, the body of 21 year old Canadian student Elisa Lam was discovered floating in an industrial water tank about Cecil Hotel in Los Angeles she had been reported as missing by her parents who said the last time they heard from their daughter was at the end of the January of the same year total maintenance workers when completing checks of the water tanks at the top of the hotel after receiving complaints of foul tasting and discolored water from the guests at which point the missing girl's body was found according to the autopsy report Lam was found naked and she had no drugs or alcohol in her system furthermore they ruled out suicide and reported her death as accidental drowning it is from here on the death of the student Elisa Lam becomes most mysterious case the first unusual aspect of the ELISA Lam's case is how she managed to reach the water tanks which were situated on top of the high-rise hotel with water tanks being 4 by 8 foot and with no easy access to them, the maintenance workers themselves have to use ladder to live inside the water tanks it's equally mysterious as how the Lam managed to get inside the tanks Lam was a daughter of a emigrate from Hong Kong who opened the restaurant just outside Vancouver, Canada and she was the student of University of British Columbia she traveled alone on Amtrak and intercity buses she visited San Diego Zoo and posted photos taken her on social media on 26th she arrived in Los Angeles after two days she checked into Cecil Hotel near downtown Skid Row she initially assigned to share a room on the hotel's fifth floor however her roommates complained about what the hotel's lawyer would later describe that certain odd behavior she was moved the room after two days on her own the hotel was built in nineteen twenties two businessmen who come into the town to spend a night or two Cecil Hotel was quickly unstaged by glamorous hotels located nearby infamous Skid Row area the hotel began renting on long term basis for cheap prices a policy that attracted shifter crowd the hotel's reputation quickly went from shifty to morbid when it became notorious for numerous suicide and murders as well as logging famous serial killers serial killers like Richard Ramirez lived at the hotel while he terrorized the streets of Los Angeles in his mid-80s it believed he had murdered 13 peoples while staying at the hotel Australian serial killer Jack Unterweger also stayed at the hotel in 1991 he murdered three *** during his time there Lam contacted her parents in British Columbia every day while traveling on January 31 2013 the day she was scheduled to check out the Cecil Hotel and live for Santa Cruz they did not hear her so they called Los Angeles Police her family flew to Los Angeles to help with the search lam's has been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and depression she had been precised for medications to treat her disorders according to her family who supposed three kept her history of mental illness as a cigarette she had no history of suicidal attempts all through one report claimed she had previously gone missing for a brief period On February 6th a week after Lam had last been seen the Los Angeles Police Department decided more health to be needed flyers with her image were posted in the neighborhood and online it was the case that the public attention to the media on February 14th after another week with no signs of her Los Angeles police released the video of the last known sighting of her taken in cecil's elevator by a video surveillance camera On February first into worldwide interest in the case due to Lam strange behavior and has been extremely analyzed and discussed at first ELISA enters the elevator apparently presses all the buttons she then waits for something to happen but for some reason the elevator door doesn't shut she starts to look around as if she's expecting or hiding from someone in the video her arms and the hands that to move in a very strange matter almost not like a human as she appears to be talking to someone something or nothing at all she then walks away elevator doors then shuts and obviously starts working again during the search for Lam guests that the host began complaining about the low water pressure some later claimed that water was colored black and had an unusual taste on the morning of February 19th lam's body was found in one foot of thousand gallons thanks providing water to the guestrooms on February 21 the Los Angeles coroner's office issued a finding of an accidental drowning with the bipolar disorder as a significant factor the full coroner report released in June stated that lambs body had been found naked clothing similar to that she seemed varying in the elevator's video she was floating in the water coated with a white sand like particle her watch and the room key were also found lam's body was moderately decomposed and blotted it was mostly greenish with some Marbley evident on abdomen and the skins separation evident there was no evidence of physical trauma *** assault or suicide the investigation has determined how lam died but did not offer an explanation as how she got into the tank in the first place there are others that accessed the hotel's roof were also locked with only staff having the passcodes and the case and any attempt to force would supposedly have triggered an alarm.
