So tax day is right around the corner and besides having an excuse to wear this great hat,
I am also rushing around like a crazy woman getting stuff organized for Uncle Sam.
While April 15th is about as taxing as it gets, you should never feel like that about
your drug-free workplace program,
especially when it's crunch time and you have to deal with an issue or submit a report. In fact,
I'll bet
you already have everything you need to get your program organized
and running smoothly in your office.
Don't believe me?
I'll show you.
A 3-ring binder, I know, you have a ton of these round your office.
But if I gave you 60 seconds to produce a copy of your drug-free workplace program
could you do it?
You have to be able to *** it quick
when faced with a substance abuse issue.
No big decision should be made without it.
Post-it notes
Your policy is most helpful when you can find what you need... quickly.
Flag those pages that contain the most critical information -
like your definition of an accident.
reasonable suspicion checklist, prescription drug rule,
and what do so if someone tests positive. A stack of large envelopes, preferably in pink or
some other bold color. Fill them with everything you need to send an employee
for a drug test.
Directions to the collection site. Any necessary forms.
keep them in a visible place in your office and on job sites so everyone has what they need
when it's time to test.
A file folder, and an electronic version, too, where you can stash EVERYTHING about your
program.
That way when you need to produce information for a report or a situation,
you have only a few places to look.
No shoeboxes permitted.
And finally a phone to call someone, like Working Partners®,
when you have a question about your program. I wouldn't do my business
taxes without talking with my accountant.
Same thing here. You don't need to be an expert on this issue,
but you need someone to call who is.
That's it. I told you you already had what you needed.
Just five common office supplies to make your drug-free program less taxing and hopefully give you a
nice return
