This is Kohei. How to wipe the tea bowl.
Hold the tea bowl with your left hand.
Pick up chakin (linen cloth) with the right hand.
Hold the folded part of chakin and put it in the bottom of the bowl.
Take the bulged part and hang chakin on the left and far rim of the bowl.
Your right thumb should be positioned downwards when you do it.
You wipe the rims of the bowl with three and half strokes.
After you turn the bowl three and half times, the front of the bowl has to be back to the same position as before.
First time
Second
Third, and half
Here, you take the chakin off.
Slide it out as it is.
Flip your hand over so the thumb goes down
Place the chakin at the bottom of the bowl.
It lies sideways.
Now, wipe the bottom of the bowl.
Hold the chakin by pinching the center of it.
Left, right and then center.
Put it in the middle.
Place the bowl on the table with right hand.
Take out the chakin with right hand.
That's it.
When you wipe the bowl for the second time or later, chakin looks different from the first time.
Hold the bowl with left hand.
Pick up chakin by holding the middle of it with right hand.
Place it sideways at the center of the bowl.
Pick up the left edge by right hand and hang it on the left side of the bowl.
From here, it's going to be the same as the first time.
You wipe it with three and half strokes.
