Competition about the top-speed crown is in
full swing. Till now the Bugatti Veyron 16.4 Super
Sport is with 431 km/h the fastest production car of all over the world. Till now.
A hyper car from the US is now fighting his position.
Previous record holder is the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport. He has 1200 HP. Maximum torque:
1200 Nm. Price: two million Euros.
Without taxes. The record exists since May 2010. Pierre-Henri
Raphanel set up the record on the own-brand
test track in Ehra-Lessin, Northern Germany.
The velocity of the street-legal version of
the Veyron is sealed off to 415 km/h due to
safety reasons. Therefore the competitor seizes the chance...
...the sports car manufacturer Hennessey
from Houston, Texas claims the crown. The
Venom GT has 1244 HP from a seven liter V8
engine. On the air base Lemoore, California
the Venom GT achieved 427 km/h. Hennessey
declared themselves as new record holder.
With 427 km/h the GT is three km/h slower
than the Bugatti but the sealing of the Veyron is against the guidelines of the Guiness Comission.
So the Bugatti record is not official.
bad luck for Hennessey: when they took the
record time no one of the Guiness World Record
Comission was attendant. So also this record
is not official. Who is going to win the fight?
It remains exciting!
