Hey everyone! I've got here LEGO Creator 10254 Winter Holiday Train.
It's a small set with 734 pieces in it but it does look absolutely gorgeous. This is
really nice. I love LEGO Trains, they are my absolute favorite line that LEGO
make and this one is no exception,
it really does look gorgeous. I like the colors, they are very Christmasy so there's
lots of green, red and gold and a set of nice bright red wheels look really nice
as well.
The inside of the carriage is nice, if a little bit small. You do get an extra
minifigure specifically to go in there and he's got a little area in which to stand.
Here is a closer look at the tender car which goes behind the main engine.
There's some quite nice detailing on this. The the only thing I do not like is this
coupling. I think it looks rather cheap and nasty
but it's effective and is doing the job. I like the paneling on the side and i
really like the gold bars and the lights, I just think this looks really nice. A really nice
touch is at the bottom where you can see the gold pieces between wheels. It
really does look good.
There's not a lot going on inside except for a few pieces which are meant to
represent coal. It's on a slope so it looks quite effective but actually
if you lift this up ... here is where you can add Lego Power Functions - but if you do
that you have to actually remove this plate because that is where the battery pack goes. The battery pack is fairly big,it
comes up to about here so you do see it. It is a bit of a shame that the Lego Designer didn't elevate
this a little bit higher and put this on top to hide the power pack
but never mind, other than that this looks really good.
Let's take that now at the center car and I'm just gonna take these presents
off it so we can take a closer look at those. I've only put the
presents in here because I put the toys with the minifigures. I like how Lego
design gifts like this. I think that's really cool and I like the different colors
they use. I also like how they represent ribbons and a bow on top.
This round gift box could be a hat box or maybe a box of chocolates but anyway
these are really nice. Let's put those away for a second and take a look at
this car.
One thing you'll notice about this car is that the wheels have rubber bands
on them and that's so they can get a good grip on the track. Normally
carriages don't have that but the reason this one needs a good grip on the
track is because as it moves along it actually turns the tree around and if
you look closely there's even a little training going around the tree as well.
As the train moves along the tree spins around and it looks gorgeous. That is
really a nice feature.
There's a couple of gears that are
connected to the wheels and the axle and they spin the plates around which
the Christmas tree and the toy train are standing on. It works very well. I was hoping
the train would rotate around the tree without the tree moving but
they haven't done it like that. Never mind though, it's no big deal.
Although this set is quite small I do like that the carriages are all different and unique.
This one is nicely decorated and it follows a similar theme with the
decorations on the side with lights and the snow flake, and
it's got some gold bars on it as well. This carriage has so much character and looks absolutely
fabulous!
In fact, if the set wasn't so expensive I think it would be worth buying a couple
of them so that you can get two or three of these carriages. They are
really gorgeous and on mine you can see I've got the conductor or the ticket inspector.
He's just been inside the carriage to check the passenger's tickets. You can see on
here as well that there is a really nice little
light which gives the car a bit of character. Let's take the roof off and there's
not really much going on inside. There are a couple of windows and my
minifig is having a drink at the table. There's just a couple of chairs,
a small lamp and the obligatory cup but I think this looks
really nice. I particularly like the shutter doors because I like the style that
Lego have used. It's kind of like a wagon and it doesn't really seem
very wintery - I'm not sure I'd like to sit in that myself but I think it
looks really good.
Here's the platform that you get with this and it's just got the normal style bench
on it with a little bit of snow in the corner. The lamppost is really nice. I'm a real
fan of the lamp posts in the winter sets. The platform does look quite plain
so let's get a couple of couple of minifigures on there.
I guess this is the mother in a posh fur coat - I hope it's not real fur! - and
let's get the kid in there as well and then this means we can have a look at
some of the toys that you get with this set. He's got a remote-controlled
robot which is quite nice ... quite nicely done.
My favorite is the fire engine I think that is lovely, that is a really nice
little micro set. There is a boat as well as a little wind-up car, and
a little space rocket which I'm not so keen on because I don't think it looks so
great.
Here are the minifigures that you get with this set. You do get two adults and
two children but you also get the train driver who's going to shovel all
that coal into the train's steam engine.
The train set cost me about £59.99 and I got ten
pounds off. Even so, I think that is a little bit expensive but it does
look nice.
The only downside is that although it does support LEGO Power Functions you don't actually
get any with it so you'd have to buy those separately
unless you've got some spare. I do have some spare but I haven't
decided if I'm gonna put those in yet. I really like the way that it looks like
this. The instructions do explain how to do add power functions if you want to. You lose a bit of the
design here where the remote control will go if you wanted to use that and then
the battery pack will go here
and the wires will go underneath here and connect to the wheels but
even so it loses a little bit of its character and a little bit of its charm i think.
I'm not quite sure if i'm going to put power functions in the Winter Holiday Train yet but maybe i'll
do it and see how it works out.
In the meantime I'm going to have mine set up something like this. I've got quite a
few of the Lego Winter Village sets. I've got the Winter Toy Shop at the back
and I love this set because you get an LED light brick with it so you can light up
that window. It is a shame it doesn't stay on so you have to keep the button pressed but
never mind. I have got Santa's workshop or rather the house from it and Mrs. Klaus
... oops ...
she's been drinking and fell over! I love what they've
done with LED lights there and then I have this magnificent Christmas tree in the
middle. I have got a lady putting some decorations on the
branches ... oops! She's had an accident!
The dark nights are coming in London already so there's
not so much daylight in here. My lighting setup isn't that great so the colors
might not show up so well but trust me this really does look fantastic and i
love how the Christmas tree spins around. This is a really nice set and if I
received this for Christmas I would be very happy!
OK so that's my quick look at this set and you can see I've got quite a little
winter scene going on here.
It looks really festive and this is gonna be really nice to look at
when I have guests around at Christmas. So let me know what you think in the comments
below and if you've got any suggestions for my new winter village scene!
OK that's it for now, thanks for watching! Bye :o)
